Fun Things Friday

Happy Good Friday!

I thought I’d give you some updates on what I’ve been doing recently!
Let’s start with some music!

What I’m singing – Jesus Thank you.
Without Good Friday there would be no Easter!  We are saddened by Christ’s crucifixion, but yet it was His purpose in coming to earth.  He came to die.  Isn’t that sobering?  Wow.  How wonderful to have a Savior Who loved us so much that He would knowingly give His life so we could have a relationship with Him and live with Him forever in heaven.  Without it we would be lost in our sin!

The mystery of the cross I cannot comprehend,
The agonies of Calvary.
You, the Perfect Holy One, crushed Your Son,
Drank the bitter cup reserved for me.

Your blood has washed away my sin,
Jesus, thank You.
The Father’s wrath completely satisfied,
Jesus, thank You.
Once Your enemy, now seated at Your table,
Jesus, thank You.

What I’m wearing:  Layers, but they’re getting lighter!
Springtime weather is here!  That means unpredictability is the name of the each day!  One day it’s warm, the next it’s cool again.  I’m good with that; I am just thankful we don’t have snow down here!  These temp changes mean that I continue to layer my outfits so as it warms up, I can remove a layer and be comfortable.

Last weekend when I attended a retreat, I wore the layered outfit above and had a jacket in the suitcase, just in case!  A denim jacket could be worn as well, if it was really cool.

What I’m cooking: Grilled Chicken with Strawberry Salsa and Feta
On Sunday night I went through my blog’s recipe index in order to find ideas for this week’s menu.  Yum! I found several I hadn’t made in a while!

This was my plate! How good does that look?!

Where I’ve been: Kentucky and North Carolina!
Last week I got to my parents and spend a few days.  We had one day when my parents and my two sisters were able to spend several hours together.  My mom called it, “The Original Five.”  We went to lunch, drove around the city where they live and I grew up, and then visited in the warm sunshine in their driveway and talked over glasses of Peach Iced Tea.  What a blessing! My dad usually always pops popcorn for us one night I’m home.  His is the best…I think it’s the love he adds.

The Wilds ladies’ retreat was last weekend and I had the blessing of attending with a sweet group of ladies from my church and I also met some new friends who traveled with us.  It’s always good to go to The Wilds.

What idea I’ve recently copied: Come Home for Comfort’s suggestion to line the fridge with vinyl place mats.

Sorry, I can’t find her post where she mentioned this, but I saw a picture where she said cleaning the fridge was easier with place mats inside.  It also seemed to brighten the inside of the appliance!  I picked the place that seems like it gets dirty the fastest – the drawer with the cheeses and meats and lined those as well as the large shelf with the beverages.

Can you tell I’m getting ready for Easter dinner/company?!

And lastly,

What I’m decorating: My Easter table.

I shared this on Instagram, but I loved this simple and adorable “napkin fold.” Inside the eggs will be Easter M&M’s. Yes please.

It doesn’t get much simpler than that!

Tell me in the comments what you’re listening to, what you’re wearing, what you’re cooking, where you’ve been, what great idea you’ve copied OR what you’re decorating!

Also let me know if you liked today’s post!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. This was a fun post! I love your Kentucky pictures – Nana’s dress is so chic. I think I just showed my fridge liners in an Instagram story, that’s why you couldn’t find it. I’m glad you found the turquoise ones! ❤

    1. Thanks, Whitney. Nana looked so pretty in her dress, but then she always looks so put together! I’m glad you clarified about your refrigerator liners. That was such a great idea!

  2. I attended the Wilds with a group of ladies from my church as well (but I went a couple of weeks ago), been sprucing up our landscaping with the help of my husband, and am now preparing for Easter. Spring is always quite busy, but I enjoy it. I recently heard a lady comment on “the privilege of being busy” in comparison to her Mom who was restricted in what she could do due to health issues. It just helped me to put things into perspective and be thankful for what God allows me to do.

    1. I’m glad you were able to attend the first retreat at TW. I know Kellie was a blessing! I love that statement about the privilege of being busy; so true! What a great perspective!

  3. Your mom is adorable. You are blessed. My mom has Dementia and I sure miss the days when we could shop, share recipes, etc. together.

Today I am getting ready for Easter dinner at my house tomorrow. Your napkin rings are so cute. I am going to do that for sure. I just bought Easter M&M’s yesterday. 🙂

    Have a blessed Easter, Denise.

    1. Not sure how I missed responding to this; so sorry! My mom is a sweet gift. I’m sorry for the loss of those kind of times with your mom. That must be hard. Heaven…oh won’t it be sweet?!
