Meet Denise

I’m a southern gal, raised in central Kentucky and now living in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee. I am so blessed to have been married 41 years to a man who is my companion, friend, encourager and the love of my life. He pastors Boones Creek Bible Church where we love serving our great God together!

We are enjoying the empty nest after having the joy of raising two daughters. We rejoice as we see them and their husbands live out God’s plan for their lives. We have no greater joy than to hear that our children walk in truth. III John 4

I live for my Savior because He’s changed my life. I want my life to count for Christ. One Day when I stand before Him I want to hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” It’s my blessing to serve Him in my church in our ladies’ ministry, and in mentoring and teaching.

I’m very much a homebody. I love the shabby chic decor embodied by painted furniture, chandeliers, and pastels. I love cooking and baking and am guilty of trying new recipes out on my guests. I also love being married, and try to make our home a place where my husband is excited to return.

A few last details about me…
I’m left-handed. I hoard chocolate. My dresser drawers are usually a mess. I have an identical twin. I have a reputation as a prankster. I’m dangerous around fire. I crave Mexican food. I’m dreaming about writing a book.

That’s all about me in a nutshell!

My Blog’s Mission –
My number one priority in writing this blog is to glorify my great God.  Ever since I was saved at the age of seven, it’s been my understanding that God loved me and sent His Son, Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for my sin.  I received Him as my Savior and have never doubted His love for me or His promise of a relationship with Him now and heaven for eternity.  What a wonderful joy to know Him as my Savior, Redeemer and Friend!

My next priority here is to refresh the hearts of women with the Word of God. His Book is life changing when we read it, obey it and apply it. My method of teaching is simple application as the Lord teaches me through illustrations in life. I love sharing these truths with women that they might draw close to the Lord with their heart.

Our homes are gifts from the Lord, and I believe it’s our duty to make it the most inviting place on earth! I enjoy sharing decorating ideas I’ve learned as well as good recipes that keep our kitchens warm and our homes welcoming.

Lastly, it’s my desire to refresh your life ~ the ordinary things that make up each day. It might be through sharing an organizational tool, a new Pinterest find or a date idea to help freshen up your life.

I’m in the process of learning all these things myself, and I love sharing my growth and finds with you here on my blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks so much, Vickie. Sorry about the chocolate; I’m working on that. Remember the little bag of M&M’s you sent a month or so ago? Well… I still have about half the bag, but I ate several in one sitting last week! I’m improving! Thanks for your sweet comments, and for your prayers for me to serve the Lord with all my heart!

    1. Oh April, what a joy to hear of the one who was saved and the one who rededicated her life! I am praising the Lord with you with hands lifted in the air! What a Savior! He is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance! II Peter 3:9 Thank you for being a faithful witness to your friends and caring enough to do the hard thing!

It was a blessing to meet you and have the chance to chat. What a blessing you were to my heart. I prayed much for you all as you traveled home. Now I rejoice that He answered our prayers in ways beyond imagining!

Continue in the things you learned and make a difference in your sphere of influence! Won’t heaven be wonderful? If I don’t see you before then, I’ll meet you there! In the meantime, I’ll be thankful to keep up with you on Facebook!

  6. I am new to Refreshher, and I was so challenged by your post, “Help Your Husband Live Joyfully With You.” Thank you. I enjoyed reading “about” you on your sight. I think we could be friends!

My husband was called to pastor a small Baptist Church in a very small SW West Virginia town six years ago. I am still trying to adjust to the culture, people and “language.” At times I feel myself not being so joyful, and the Lord has convicted me of this. I’m looking forward to keeping up with you on your sight.
