  1. Hello,

I would love some tips for bringing a 1 year old to church and keeping them occupied. My little girl is on the move now and it’s so hard to keep her in her seat or quiet! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

    Thanks!

    1. Hello Jen,
I’m actually posting a list of suggestions about this tomorrow. I hope they help you! Also, a one-year old probably won’t sit still too long, so keep your time short. As they get closer to two, you can expect more, of course. Working at home as I suggest in the post tomorrow will tell you how long they’re able to stay occupied quietly.
      Thanks for reading!

  2. Denise, I would like to get the Prayer Journal PDF file you are offering. I am going to give it a try. I have a friend who is a great prayer warrior. Her birthday is coming up in February and I think putting together this prayer journal would be a great gift for her. Thanks you so much.

  3. Denise, I need to pick your brain a little bit. We have some friends who are getting married next week. He is a widower and she is a widow. They are in their late 70’s and are combining two households. The wedding is going to be very small and she has asked me to stand up with her. I want to do something a little extra special for her. Do you have any ideas? I am thinking about getting her a corsage or a small bouquet. Is there anything else you think I should be doing? Even though I don’t know you I value your opinions very much. Thanks!

  5. Hi Denise, I raised a stepson from age 4 until 14 when his mom divorced me. As a brand new stepdad, I asked God to help me give me some insights about doing so, and He gave me the three words that you share in your blog which are Firm, Fair, Fun. I thought that was great insight I got from God, but obviously, God has given that same insight to others like you. Check out the page I made years ago that I think you will like. https://needencouragement.com/encouragement-for-teens/

    1. God is always faithful to help and give wisdom, as He says. James1:5 Hebrews 13:5,6 What a mighty God we serve! The firm, fair, fun advice was actually shared on Adrian Rogersโ€™ broadcast. ๐Ÿ˜Š Nothing new under the sun as they say! Your son is blessed to have a dad who stuck in there during hard times. Thanks for the comment and for stopping in to read my simple thoughts.

  6. Hi Denise. This seems inappropriate right now after reading of your very recent loss but as I love to read your blog and save your recipes to try I’ve nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I understand if you prefer not to accept/nominate. The link to my acceptance and nomination of others, including yourself is https://nattinatters.wordpress.com/2019/11/11/ive-been-nominated-for-the-sunshine-blogger-award/ Hugs and prayers, NN ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Thank you for the great ideas today! Of course, you know Dollar Tree is my favorite store, and even before Paul worked there! I always check there for things I need before going elsewhere, since they are likely to cost less than even Walmart. The “Awesome” brand of cleaning products are good, esp the Glass Cleaner, which works well on kitchen grease and my glass topped stove, as well as mirrors. I like to browse their seasonal decor, too, and just go up and down all the aisles sometimes just to see if there’s something I haven’t thought of before. They have good craft ideas for children, too.

    1. Thank you for the suggestion of the cleaner! I will have to try that! I love their craft section, too! I can see why you love dollar tree, aside – from the man that smiles sweetly at you when he checks out your purchases!๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. I just Read your post about respect in marriage and I just love it! Itโ€™s so practical and I wish I could go back in time and have my newly married self read it. Took me a few years to really learn from my mistakes…you listed each one in this blog!

I manage a very active devotional website and social media pages filled with daily devotionals for women.

I would love to share this devotional on there. Please let me know if that is an option. Thank you!

The fb page is called encouragement from women whoโ€™ve been there.
