Last Friday I was on my back patio when my daughter and son-in-law stepped into the yard and asked,
“Have you heard?! Roe V. Wade was overturned?”
I was shocked. I was overcome with thankfulness. We have prayed for the rights of the unborn for so long, have been so burdened for our country, guilty of killing millions of innocent lives for so many years, that we wondered if it would ever happen. But our God reigns. He that created that baby and formed its tiny frame, sovereignly rules over all those that pushed for women’s rights to do the unthinkable. It was overturned by His grace.
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.[a]
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
Psalm 139:13-16
Yet, I am not haughty over this decision. I understand the weightiness that this is for all of us.
- I am burdened for the pregnant women who think they are trapped and have no way out.
- I am heavy-hearted for those bearing the guilt of their past that included an abortion. (There is no sin too great for God to forgive!)
- I am frightened for those that think they have no hope and would take an abortion pill, and the horror they may suffer alone in their own home at the sight of their baby no longer alive.
- I weep for those infants in angry wombs.
- I am stirred at my own lethargy when it comes to saving the unborn or aiding these needy women.
- I cry out for wisdom to share the Hope of the Gospel that has rescued me with His grace, and can do the same for all who will call to Christ.
We must stay humbly on our knees. This is not the time for shouting matches and arguments, but for humility and love. Let’s remember that the grace of God cleanses from ALL sin. My lack of trust in my God, my sharp words and every other evil thing that comes from my heart are as sinful as anything that I see around me. I am a sinner, too. However, God’s grace is greater than all our sin! Romans 5:20 But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Let’s show grace. Let’s share grace so that those that need Christ will be overturned by His grace.
