Each morning after making the bed, I head to the couch in our family room, coffee cup and Bible in tow. Seated where I have a view of the dawning of the day, I sip my coffee from its warm cup topped with frothy cream. On my lap is my Bible, my journal and a pen. I stop and pray, asking the Spirit of God to teach me truth from this precious Book. As I read, the sky isn’t the only thing that is illuminated. The verses and chapters from God’s Word go from my eyes to my heart. God teaches me about Himself and His Son. My understanding is
enlightened as I read.
I’ve had so many moments of, “Aaaah, now I understand how this fits in the timeline of the Gospel!” I’ve had moments of deep conviction as God points to me areas of my life that are displeasing to Him. I’ve also had many times of seeing my Savior in a deeper way. I learned more of His love for me, His constant work in my life every day, and of the plans that He has for me right now. I am moved to tears. I was also enlightened as I read favorite verses in their context. They became sweeter and even more precious than before!
I’ve read other plans, but this year was my second year to read the Chronological plan using The Bible Recap. I had always avoided reading chronologically, thinking that I would get bogged down in the “hard” books of the Bible, like prophecy. But that has not been the case at all. Rather, it has helped me to put it all together; to understand God’s redemptive plan in a richer way!
Whitney and I are hosting a group who will read The Bible Recap on the You Version app. Here’s how it works. You do need the Your Version app. Then:
- You click this link. It will take you to the page where you can join the group.
- Each day it will show you what chapters of the Bible to read.
- You can see who is reading with us, but no one will see your progress, except you.
- There is no requirement to interact with the others who are reading. But I would encourage you to write down what you learn about your God as you read each day.
Reading along with others offers encouragement and accountability. I’ve found it so wonderful to have conversation with my family and friends who are reading the same thing. Our chats are so edifying!
I hope you’ll prayerfully consider joining us in 2024 so that you might Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
If I can answer any questions for you, please feel free to leave them here. Will you be joining us?
Let’s grow together!

Amen! I can’t wait to read again with you next year! ā¤

Even if it was just the two of us, I would be excited! I am praying that many more will join us on this adventure, though!
