This summer has been busy as we have served at The Wilds Christian Camp three days each week. So many people, knowing our busyness and our age (!) have shared their concern for our rest. We are grateful and we listen to their cautions not to overdo. The Lord has superintended times each weekend that refresh and renew us. I thought I’d share a few pictures of those scenarios.

July 4th had our family at our house for a day of bbq, a full-on water gun fight, (well it was more than that! Ha!), croquet, volleyball and homemade ice cream. It was the BEST day!

Getting to be at our church each Sunday has also been a blessing each weekend. I’ve taught an elective for the ladies in June and July and I’ve enjoyed it so much. To get to worship, pray and hear God’s Word with our brothers and sisters in Christ is a joy!

We toured the Bush Bean Company with a group from our church on a Friday. We also had lunch there. That was an interesting and delicious outing!

Because Dollywood isn’t far from Bush Beans, Dale and I spent the rest of the day walking through the park. I ooo-ed and ahhhh-ed over all the flowers. The views are stunning.

Our garden is producing some lovely vegetables and I enjoy going out and wedding and also picking the fruit off the vines. It’s like therapy to me!

Last Sunday evening our family came over and we made s’mores over our backyard fire pit. We also made popcorn over the fire using a popper that Dale had received from Whitney at Christmastime. It did an amazing job! Every single kernel popped and it was done in about five minutes! I was so impressed!

At the end of every weekend, my heart feels so full, thankful, and rested! The Lord is so kind to give us exactly what we need to serve Him…even as we age. Philippians 2:13 is such a precious verse – For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Sometimes I think, “Who would have ever thought of this ministry you’ve called us to but You, Lord? You will give us everything we need to do it! I’ll trust You for today!” I make it another day and have the joy of doing so!
Don’t be afraid to trust the Lord in whatever He calls you to do. It’s His task – you just get to get in on the blessing! He will give you the rest and refreshment you need to do it!
