These early fall days have been full of blessings from the Lord’s hands. It hasn’t really felt like fall with temps still rising to the 80’s, but we’ve enjoyed some fall activities anyway.
Whitney and I have been reading the Bible chronologically for the last few years using The Bible Recap with Tara Leigh Cobble. Months ago we purchased tickets to attend a Live Bible Recap in Greenville, SC. We were excited to hear Tara Leigh and be a part of this event. It far exceeded my expectations!
My sweet husband went along as my driver, but he also had “business” that kept him busy while Whitney and I were at the Live event. He and I stopped in Weaverville on our way at our favorite little bakery spot where we enjoyed lunch and shared a Molasses Cookie the size of your face!
The Bible Recap event was sold out, and I understand why. The whole evening exalted Christ – what better way to spend time together?!
After being at this event, I can say that Tara Leigh is a woman who loves God and His Word, and has a passion for others to love His Word, too! She said, “I have always been my greatest problem in reading the Bible. I’ve looked for me and how it applies to me!” Her wise encouragement is to always look for what the passage teaches about our great God!
She created in me a greater desire to dig deep each day to learn His character and walk closely with Him.
The live event was fun, engaging, and God-honoring. She taught Psalm 23, using her method of study – looking for what the passage teaches us about our God. It was rich!
Dale and I had the blessing of staying with Whitney and her husband. She’s the best hostess, always going above and beyond in caring for our every need. I’m only sorry I didn’t get any photos at her house! We were having too much fun, looking through old photos, laughing, chatting, enjoying her yummy meals – White Chicken Chili and my favorite fall salad I blogged about this this week! Eating it at her house is what prompted me to make it on Sunday!
On Saturday we got a little shopping in, as well as lunch at a favorite pizza place. – Sidewall Pizza.
We also found the neatest place to shop – Westside Market that felt like an antique mall, but the merchandise wasn’t all antiques. They had clothing, books, household items, furniture, florals… You name it and it was there! I keep a list of things on my phone for things I’m shopping for and I found one thing on my list and one fun find!
I purchased this little Tasha Tudor book that is full of beautiful paintings by this famed author/artist. These kind of books are treasures in themselves, but also inspirational to me as one who makes feeble attempts at watercolor!
Shopping together as mother and daughter, we do whatever the other one needs to be “successful!” It was warm, and Whitney wanted to try on a coat. I held the fan on her so she wouldn’t melt!
We weren’t able to cover all of the market, but we will be back!
Our weekend left my heart full of sweet memories, love for the Lord and His Word, and of course, also JOY, because
HE IS WHERE THE JOY IS!!

I enjoyed reading about your weekend, Denise! I looked into getting tickets for the Bible Recap Live in Atlanta since it’s closest to me, but it was on a night that I had a scheduling conflict. It’s nice to hear you say it was worth going– maybe I’ll try next year! The rest of your weekend sounds lovely too.

When we were there I thought about how I wished our whole group that is reading with us could be there! It was a special night! I pray you’ll get to attend sometime!
