A Lovely Way To Show You Care

When a friend is down and needs a little encouragement, it’s great to find a way to make them know they’re remembered, loved and prayed for.

I was recently burdened for someone and came across a fun little idea of something I could do for her. I adapted the idea with what I had on hand.

It starts with a drink carrier from any fast food restaurant. Those four cup holders will hold what is put inside as the gift.

I started by going into my yard and clipping flowers that were blooming. I put them inside a jelly jar.

I took an orange and white paper coffee cup from a package I’d purchased at Hobby Lobby last year and filled it with chocolates and then popped the lid back on. I also wrapped up a small loaf of bread I had baked that morning.

I finished off the gift by doing a small watercolor painting, then I added magnetic strips on the back, turning it into a refrigerator magnet. I added a written note on the back of the magnet.

Then I tucked all my little gifts into the drink carrier (I think I’ll start always asking for a drink carrier when I’m at Dunkin!)…

and I left it at my friend’s door. It was so much fun to put this together for my friend, and I loved that I was able to do so with things I already had on hand.

This gift could be changed up and filled with lots of fun variations of thoughtfulness. The point is, just do it. Did you read/listen to my recent post/podcast about edifying conversations? One point was to meet a need, if you can. Even if you can’t give something, you can always reach out with the gift of prayer for your friend. That’s the greatest thing we could do for anyone. Then write a card and let them know you called their name before the Throne of Grace.

Who do you know who could use a gift of some kind? Who needs your prayer? Give what’s in your hand and refresh a friend.
