After some good input from you, my dear readers, I have started a new series on my podcast today! It’s a “Clean with me” series that will help you get your entire house sparkling this spring! You can listen to it here!
I hope my podcast will inspire and motivate you as we go together room by room through your house, one room a week. Today’s podcast will:
- Give you the understanding about why it even matters that our house is orderly.
- Give you tips and tools that will help you clean more effectively.
- Guide you step by step so that in about 30 minutes, you will have cleaned the entire room!
Here are a few peeks into my cleaning venture this last week…

I love these little bottles for holding my bathroom cleaning solutions and window cleaner. This is the Clorox Shower wand I mentioned on the podcast. This is similar to the wand I use in the drain.
Here are the steps you need to take to complete the deep clean of your bathroom:
- Take down the shower curtain and the liner. Put it into the washing machine. The curtain can be dried, the liner will go back up after washing. Wait to start the load.
- Remove all the towels and washcloths hanging on the towel racks or hooks. Take them to the washer and throw them in with the shower curtain and liner. Start the wash.
- Gather all the rugs and shake them outside, then put them into the washing machine after the curtain and towels go into the dryer or dry the rugs outside.
- Remove everything from the sinks, tub and showers – all shampoos, and soaps, etc.
- Use that drain brush to get up any hair in the drain. Spray the sinks with the cleaner. Go behind the sink faucets using that old toothbrush. Clean the ledge behind and beside the sink. Wipe out toothbrush holders.
- Clean the mirrors with foaming spray and a paper towel.
- Using the window cleaner, spray and wipe with a paper towel any glass globes over lights, picture frames, top and front, bathroom scale, and decorative items that are glass. Dust it all with the cleaner!
- Spray some of the Lysol on a wipe and clean every cabinet and drawer front and also the inside of the cabinet door.
- Wipe down the baseboards using the Lysol.
- Spray tub/shower. Be sure to also clean the shower head – the spray nozzle and the top of the head.
- Now the toilet…Open lid and spray up under the rim. Stand on your head ( !) and scrub any grime that is there. That’s where this little angled brush comes in handy! Flush several times to get rid of the grime. Wipe down the front and all the sides of the toilet.
- Refill paper supply.
- Do you need to take the toilet brush holder outside and hose it down along with the brush? Do it or replace it.
- Get out fresh hand towels and place back on towel rack.
- Empty the trash can. Does it need to be wiped out? Add a liner, if possible.
- Hang wet shower liner back in the shower. If you hang the curtain while it’s damp it probably won’t be wrinkled.
- Replace things only as needed back on the counters and tub/shower. Take inventory and rid yourself of what isn’t needed.
- Sweep and mop the floor.
- Place clean rugs back onto the floor when dry.
If you want to go the extra mile,
Straighten up the drawers. I love to get small organizer containers and fit them inside the drawers to hold our items and make retrieving them easier.
Straighten up the cabinets of towels and wash cloths. Get rid of old linens. I roll my washcloths and hand towels and stand them on their end in a basket.
I hope you’ll not only listen to the podcast, but also clean with me! If you clean this first room with the guidance of the podcast, I’d love for you to leave a comment and let me know! I’m cheering you on!
Refresh your home this spring!
