A Winter Get-Away

As Promised, I’m recapping another fun event that happened during Christmas. It is a favorite memory I won’t soon forget! This is a great idea for the long, cold winter months!

December is so busy for most of us, and it’s so easy for this much anticipated season to pass so quickly that we really don’t take time to enjoy its wonder. It was for that very reason that my sweet husband planned a get-away for us in the middle of the month. It came the week after my Cake and Coffee Party that I had worked so hard on. It was the perfect time to rest!

We made reservations at Blue Mountain Mist B&B. We have stayed here in the past, and we love its charm, its quiet and their delicious breakfasts! Each room in the main house is decorated differently. I haven’t found a “bad” room! Every room is special. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are updated. All the towels and linens are soft and luxurious!

These two kitties are lap cats when you sit down outside. I LOVE that!

In the morning a highlight is the breakfast that they serve in the dining room. You wait in the lobby until they ring the bell and then you find the table with your name on it and seat yourself. A host will come out and say a blessing for the food before they bring out your breakfast. It’s always delicious and served very nicely. Each table had different Christmas dishes, which I loved!

During our four days and three nights there, we ventured out and enjoyed a little of Pigeon Forge’s shopping, and ate dinner out. We were in no hurry, and just made our way leisurely through each day. We took a long walk one evening on The Wonders of Light Walking Trail. It was beautiful and it felt good to get some exercise!

Graze Burgers was delicious!

We got to enjoy a day at Dollywood with some dear friends who shared passes with us. The day started out gorgeous and ended with some rain, but we had so much fun. We enjoyed every show they offer, rode the carousel, the train and the bumper cars! Aren’t we exciting?!

We enjoyed our time so much, even though I knew I had much to do when I returned home (because I hosted Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). It was just the break in our schedules, our marriage, and our private lives needed! We have it marked out in our calendars for next year!

It would even be good to plan out a time to get away now to break up winter’s monotony. Just one or two nights away feels like such a gift! There are often good deals during January and February!

Is this something you would consider for this winter or next Christmas?
