We’ve had a little time at home in between our meetings and we’ve stayed busy! But it wasn’t just busy for the sake of being busy. As I look back on the week, I see a definite theme.
I got to meet up and have lunch with my sweet friend. Days might be full, but we all need to make time for fellowship and friendship. I recently heard a message by Chuck Swindoll and he said,
“We come into church like marbles instead of grapes!”
In other words, we don’t let our lives mesh with others. I’m thankful for my grape friend who helps me not be a marble! Our time together enable us to connect far better than sending a text message! It was up close, personal and meaningful.
We took both of our grandsons bowling and they had so much fun. One of the cutest parts was when a very proficient teenage boy began bowling beside us. Our grandsons were in awe, and introduced themselves to this cool kid! He was so kind and encouraged our beginner bowlers with what a good job they were doing. You know, there are some kind people in this world, including teenagers! Our boys talked about “Jack” all night and the next day! You can’t forget someone who is kind!
The boys spent the night with us after our bowling adventure. They think it’s such a novelty to eat breakfast at our table in the family room. Scrambled eggs and English muffins took on a whole new level sitting up there in the sunshine! I love the statement I read somewhere…
Elevate the ordinary.
It might take a little more effort and energy, but it’s so worth it!
Sweet Whitney put a frozen Taco Casserole in my freezer while we were away so that we could have a delicious dinner with no prep! It was so good and such a blessing on a busy day! Her thoughtfulness was even better than the food, and it touched more than our appetites. ❤️
On Sunday night my small group went to hear Greater Vision at a church in our area. I love their music. Having grown up on Gospel music, their concerts are always just what my heart needs. It got my focus sharply on God’s ability to do the impossible! The song, “Put out the Fire” was perfect after just finishing the Book of Leviticus. “I’ve found the perfect Lamb, put out the fire!” There’s no longer a need for a sacrifice – Jesus, the perfect Lamb was the sacrifice, once and for all! How thankful I am for Jesus and how my relationship with Him effects my life every day!
I traveled to Kentucky to spend part of the week with my mom. She has always been a wonderful baker and still enjoys whipping up a pie. She made a baked strawberry pie for my visit and it was perfect, as always! I took her to a couple appointments and we did a little shopping. The sweetest part are the chats we have in her lovely home. She is careful to express her thanks and love for me and my sisters. Even as an adult, these conversations touch my heart. I don’t take these times together for granted. They are spaced out due to our travels, but we make the most of them when I’m here. The Lord is giving her grace and strength and we are so thankful.
So how about you?
- Are you being a marble or a grape?
- Who could you be a “Jack” to by encouraging them with your words?
- How could you elevate the ordinary in your home this week?
- Is there someone you could bless with an act of service?
- Are you reveling in God’s Word and what He has done for you?
- What words of love and gratitude could you give to someone in your life?
Refresh your life with meaningful connections. You’ll make an impact on those around you in significant ways.
