This weekend I had a couple hours when my love for organizing and my love for cooking collided. It was a needed collision! My spice cabinet that had been in good order at one time, had sadly gotten out of hand. It made my cooking more difficult, and I even found that I sighed inwardly any time I needed to search for a spice.
Here’s the other side of the mess cabinet.
I began looking at TJ Maxx for a spice cabinet that would fit inside the cabinet, rather than one that sat on the counter. I was delighted to find this wooden one for less than $20.
It came with some printed labels, and some plain ones that I could personalize. My strategy was to use my Lazy Susan for the more frequently used spices and then fill the wooden holder with the rest. I also wanted “pretty” bottles for the Lazy Susan holder.
I alphabetized each set of spices. The key will be putting everything back where it needs to go…maintenance! While I had everything emptied out, I used my hand-held vacuum and swept up all the bits of spices and mess. I wiped down the shelf liner and also the Lazy Susan and each jar that was going back inside the cabinet. That alone made a huge improvement!
Here’s the end result…
When I cooked yesterday I couldn’t believe how much easier this organization made my tasks! It was well worth the time and expense! Proverbs 19:15 applies here…
Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.
I find myself opening the cupboard just to stare at its beauty! 😊
What area is your frustration? Do you have a space in your kitchen that is hindering your work, rather than helping? Dream up a plan, then set to work at making it happen. It’s amazing how a little organization can refresh your work!

It looks so nice!

I just wanted to share pictures of my spice cabinet. It is working well. Did this two years ago and have tweaked it a bit.
Thanks for sharing your home organization with me through RefresHer.
