Our loving and kind Heavenly Father is so good to precede us with blessings from His hand. After a very busy summer of serving, we were given a week to rest and refresh on Hilton Head Island, one of our favorite vacation destinations. HHI holds many memories for us from bringing our girls here beginning when they were about eight and fifteen. We first started vacationing there when we lived in Indiana. To travel from snow in the early spring to the deep south where temps were definitely warmer, was such a wonderful reprieve. Bike rides, ice cream cones, days in the surf, and seafood dinners are part of the memories from every year we’ve gone.
Of course there are also laughs of a bike pedal that went flying off – mid-bike ride, rug burns and sand pain (long story!), oral surgery recovery, and old boyfriends showing up to join us!
Dale and I have also spent many times there, just the two of us, as well. Our first time alone was on our tenth anniversary, just before the birth of Allison. We also came after she left for college, and the years from her birth to that college year seemed like a day or two in between. So it seems everywhere we go, my mind’s eye sees us going there, doing this or that, and also the seasons of our life flying by like para sailors on a gusty day. I’m so thankful for the rich remembrances.
This year was no different in memory-making or rest and refreshment! There was a hurricane on the coast, but it never touched our weather. We had rain on Saturday evening, followed by sunshine and blue skies every day after! We had the best time and came home truly rested. I thought I’d share a favorite photo with you from each day, depicting the memory we’d made. You can click on each picture to see the entire photo.

We are incredibly thankful to the Lord for providing the time away. Our bodies, hearts and marriage are all refreshed and we have new and wonderful memories because of it!
Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for HIS goodness, and for HIS wonderful works to the children of men! For HE satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:8-9
Do you have a vacation spot that holds favorite memories? I’d love to know where you travel!
