I have loved having window boxes at my upstairs windows. It’s easy in the summertime to know how to embellish them with beautiful annuals, but when winter comes, I struggle with knowing what to add, aside from Christmas greens.
One day I was perusing Pinterest when I saw an idea that caught my eye. I adapted the picture I found and came up with boxes that I’m loving! They’re like little winterscapes.
I have loved having flower boxes hanging from my upstairs windows. My dad told me I would set our house off from the others in the street by their embellishment. He was right.
Even the simple task of opening the window to water them each day is a pleasure I enjoy. Early in the morning when my neighbor’s roosters are crowing, I lift the window and slowly pour a stream of water from my pink watering can into my Sweet potato vines, Creeping Jenny and Geraniums. Therei just something about that slow routine in the quiet of the early morning that I love.
However, I was unsure how to keep them watered while we were away a few days each week of the summer. Then I came across a simple way to create a watering globe!
I love my front porch and keeping it inviting is important to me. I want to feel that it’s always opening its arms and welcoming all who pass to sit down, enjoy the shade and have time to rest. That takes careful attention to the chairs, rugs and flowers out there. The pillows on the chairs also need to be refreshed, especially after a summer of sunshine beating down, fading their colors. I don’t want to buy a new pillow for each season, but I do want the pillows to coordinate with the time of year. Here’s how I accomplish that without spending a fortune ~

A simple menu of
Hot dogs
Donuts
Cider
Marshmallows to roast
would be so easy to pull together! What could you do simply that would pull people into your backyard or home? Popcorn? Pizza? Donuts from Dunkin or these easy homemade ones? Pray about it, then put it on your calendar! Use it to encourage others, pray for the hurting and be a blessing to your own family.
