Celebrating 10 Years of Blogging!

I’m celebrating!!

Ten years ago yesterday, August 19, 2008, RefreshHer began its existence!  This week is RefreshHer’s 10th Birthday!

Wow.  It’s hard to believe.

I have written 2,463 blog posts, posting five days a week most of the time. The exception was the last two summers, when I’ve taken a little break and posted three times a week.

When I hit “Publish” on that first post, I had little idea about what I was doing.  I also had no idea how long I’d really  keep writing, but I knew I wanted to give it a try.  Let me answer a few questions for you concerning my blog:

Why I started it:  In my first blog post , I extended an invitation to the ladies of my church to get involved in the ladies’ ministry at Boones Creek.  My desire was to have a way to stay connected with my ladies through the week, via this blog.  I pray that “my ladies” do read.  I have several that let me know they’ve read a post and that always encourages my heart, since this was the beginning reason for this blog!

I also began writing because I’ve always had a love for writing.  This would be my outlet!

My mission behind RefreshHer – I state in my header that I desire to refresh women in their hearts, homes and lives.

Heart – Spiritual matters are the most important.  Where we will spend eternity, how to have a relationship with God, and how to live for Him in our lives as women are the matters I desire to refresh.

Home – Making good food, creating  an inviting atmosphere, and tips to make home the best place for our families is what I long to inspire in other women.

Lives – We all deal with trials, relationship issues, and things that stump us.  I seek to give biblical advice on dealing with the things our lives bump against in this sinful world.

This week I’m going to share some of my favorite recipes and posts from the 10 years I’ve been blogging.  I hope you’ll come back tomorrow and reminisce with me!

How long have you been reading Refreshher?  How did you find me?

Joyfully thankful for 10 years!

Denise

  1. I love your blog! You always have profitable things to say. I heard about your blog through Christa Threllfall when she interviewed different ladies about how they had their quiet time with the Lord. Maybe 2 years ago??

  2. 10 Years! Congratulations, and thank you! I’ve been reading for 7 years and 5 months. When I read your mission for Refreshher, that is exactly what your writing has done in my life- Strengthen my walk with God, help improve the atmosphere in my home, help me through trials, and help me in relationships with others. Thank you 2,463 times! ❤

  4. Congratutlions, Denise. I also found you through Whitney’s blog or Youtube channel. I am so happy I did. You are a great writer and a perfect example of a classy, Godly woman. I have tried several of your recipes and they were really good. You are great encourager and I look forward to reading your blog for ten more years.

  5. Praise the Lord for 10 years of faithful ministry and mentoring! I came to know about your blog from Sherri Privett ~ another woman who is a blessing! I’d love to see you post more things about ladies ministry, if you’d consider that. I oversee the Ladies Ministry at our church in the absence of a pastor’s wife ~ she passed away almost 3 years ago, and was a wonderful friend. I’m always looking for ways to stay encouraged in the ministry and reach out to our ladies.

      1. I sent you an e-mail last week. It came up today in my inbox and asked if I wanted to follow up with it. Do you respond to e-mails?

  6. I can’t remember when I stumbled on your blog, but it’s been more than a few years. I was looking for a fellow pastor’s wife and non-mommy blog. 🙂 You have been such an encouragement to me. I would love to meet you someday. My dear friend said you did a workshop at the southern FBFI conference, so maybe someday when I am stateside that will happen.
