Proverbs 27 describes attributes of a true friend, and we clearly see these in the way Christ responds to us. By looking at these characteristics, we can also glean ways we should be responding to and treating our earthly friends. - Jesus’ wounds are faithful.
My wounds to my friend must be gentle. Do it with love and don’t share it with others.
- Jesus’ counsel is fitting. James 1:5
My counsel to my friend will be hearty counsel from God’s Word.
- Jesus’ grace is far-reachng. Prov. 27:10
We should reach out and exclude no one.
- Jesus’ manner is favorable. Prov. 27:14
Our manner to our friend should be gentle and kind.
- Jesus’ presence is first-rate! Prov. 27:17
Iron sharpens iron, so we will brighten the countenance of our friend.
