Fun Discoveries of Things I Love!

I love coming across good ideas or products that ease my workload. I’ve recently discovered or re-discovered a few things that I’ve been enjoying that might help you, too!

Many recipes call for buttermilk in the list of ingredients, and it really does enhance the flavor of baked goods! However, I don’t usually keep it on hand because it can be expensive, and you can’t just purchase a cup of it!

This Buttermilk powder is the perfect substitution for liquid buttermilk. All you do is add water to the powder. There are 12 ounces in a container and it lasts me a long time! The cost at Kroger is about $5.50 and it’s under $5 at Walmart. It’s shelf stable, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing milk and it going bad before you can use it up! This is a pantry staple that is worth the price!

We were gifted this lovely and huge television screen at Christmas. It’s perfect for all my husband’s football games, but in the daytime, that big black screen screams at me. I recently fell upon this ingenious idea on You Tube. The picture above is a Wallpaper screen saver background from You Tube! The frame around the picture truly makes the screen look like a beautiful piece of art! I have occasionally seen ads pop up, then go back to the picture, but I MUTE THE TELEVISION while it’s playing, so the sound is never heard.

There are so many beautiful scenes to choose from and I have tried lots of them! From florals, to cute Spring Bunnies, and piano paintings (possibly my favorite!), you are sure to find something that suits the style and decor of your room. It will tell you how long they will play; most are about three hours. The piano picture is TEN hours! This will hide the television screen, and simply look like you spent a fortune on a huge piece of art! I’m in love!

Lastly, I have gone back to piling all my morning devotional items into a basket that is easy to grab when I head to my seat to have my Quiet Time. I used to do this years ago, then got away from it and simply put everything on shelves, and other containers. It made me have to go here and there getting my notebook, my Bible, the other books I’m reading, and my pens before I could go sit down and begin.

I put everything into this basket and it is stored in an easy-to-get-to spot. The sides have opening to slide your hand into, making a handle that makes it easy to lift and take with me! It simplifies the morning so much, and every little thing that makes it easier to get into God’s Word is worth it!

I hope my discoveries will benefit you, too! What new things have you found?

Happy March!!

  1. The flower painting for your TV is beautiful! I didn’t realize there was a powdered form of buttermilk. I generally add a dash of lemon juice to plain milk and let it sit for a while before using as a pretty good substitute.

    1. Thank you, Allison! I am loving disguising the TV screen!
I have used the lemon juice or vinegar in the milk for years as well. This powdered buttermilk is good for recipes that actually need the buttermilk flavor. I even have a coconut pie that calls for buttermilk and this is a great substitute. 👌

  2. Thank you for reminding me about the powdered buttermilk. I have some but forgot about it. I really like the piano picture. Will try it. Becky from Ohio
