A Quiet Respite Served with Christian Hospitality

Happy Monday, friends! We were on the road this past weekend with D and D ministries. It was a joy to speak at a church staff training and encourage the folk regarding their ministries where they serve. I had the blessing of speaking to the women in a split session. Dale preached three times on Saturday and three times on Sunday. I guess you could say we jumped into the fall schedule with both feet! It was a blessing!

We stayed overnight in the home of Church members, and we were served so sweetly. Our gracious hosts served in such a way that made it seem easy. Yet it’s humbling to be the guest because I know how much work goes into that. I always pray for our hosts the week before we go, knowing the load that they carry.

The gracious people who housed us worked ahead before we got there. I could see it in every detail.

The lovely downstairs where we stayed was clean as a pin. Towels and washcloths were laid out, as well as our breakfast items. They provided coffee, yogurt, homemade granola, fresh fruit, and granola bars. Perfect.

They were gracious and engaging, but also aware of our need for rest and reviewing our notes. Their country home provided quiet, the respite of a back porch, and even a sweet kitty. 🩷

The best part of our time with them was fellowship around the Person of Christ. We chatted about how/when we each trusted Him, how He led us together as couples, and how He’s shown grace in blessings and also in trials.

We were so refreshed by their hospitality. It was a reminder to me how much that open door and heart can bless others.

Do you use what God has given you to minister to others? If not, maybe this is the little nudge you need. You might be thinking that your home needs to be cleaned first – do it. Inviting guests in is good motivation to get things straightened up. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just clean and inviting.

If you need an easy and also low calorie dessert to share with guests, I have to share these Apple Pockets with you that I made to serve guests last week! They’re like mini Apple pies.

Only 136 calories and so delicious! These are from Taste of Home. Bake some up and invite someone in. You’ll be blessed and you’ll be a blessing.
