Watching God Provide

When my husband and I stepped out in faith to launch D&D Ministries, we knew that as God had directed our steps, He would continue to lead and provide for us. We have watched Him do that in so many ways. He’s provided opportunities. He’s given wisdom. He’s given energy and strength. He has also provided financially when the answer could only be supplied by His very full hand. I watched Him step in again just last week, and it was amazing, jaw-dropping, and brought many happy tears!

Because I have Osteoporosis, I have been receiving injections twice a year to strengthen my bones. There was an assistance program that I’ve used in the past that helps women with the very high cost of this medication. However, now that I”m over 65 (!), and am on Medicare, I am denied that assistance. The first cost estimate I was given was to be a little more than $1100. When I learned that, I kind of set the appointment off, knowing this was out of our price range. Then the infusion center where I receive my injection called to set up my appointment and told me that my cost was $367 – much better, but still more than I was ready to pay. Knowing that I needed the injection, I went ahead and made the appointment, then I prayed and prayed. I was truly trusting that God would provide somehow, some way.

Last week when I arrived at the office for my injection, I was still praying and telling the Lord I was trusting Him with this. The gal at the desk greeted us, got my name and then looked up at me and said,

“Well, there is a credit on your account and you only owe $4.” I gasped and asked her to repeat what she had said. She did. “I checked a couple of times because I didn’t want to give you the wrong information. You only owe $4.”

The happy, rejoicing tears began to flow. My husband was with me and we both rejoiced and shared with this gal how the Lord had just answered a huge prayer request. She is also a believer and she rejoiced with us. It was just the three of us in the office, and we had a little testimony time of how good our God is!

I had just talked to their office at the beginning of the week and there was no mention of any credit on my account. Where did the “credit” come from? I do not know and I don’t need to know. I am simply confident and rejoicing in the fact that my Heavenly Father Who knows my every need, chose to provide for me in this marvelous way.

Dale and I sat in that office and bowed our heads together to give thanks to our loving God for this wonderful blessing and reminder that He truly cares for the needs of His children, and He is able to do what we cannot even imagine.

Maybe $367 doesn’t seem like a lot to you, but when taxes are due, my Jeep needed a repair, and I had to go to the ER with my Flu A symptoms a couple weeks ago, it was huge to us. It makes me say, “Denise, why do you feet and worry? Look how God cares for you!”

I’ve been meditating recently on Psalm 8. David asks this question in amazement – “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man, that you visit him?” I get it, David! It IS amazing that God thinks on me and visits me with His kindness, but that’s Who He is!

What “huge” need are you looking at today? What burden seems impossible? God is able to care for that need and He will do it in ways you can’t even imagine. Trust Him. The best part of those burdens are the times it pushes us to our knees in dependence. Draw nigh and pour out your burden. He hears. He is able. He is worthy our praise!

How have you seen the Lord provide for you in recent days? I’d love to hear!
