Watching God Provide

When my husband and I stepped out in faith to launch D&D Ministries, we knew that as God had directed our steps, He would continue to lead and provide for us. We have watched Him do that in so many ways. He’s provided opportunities. He’s given wisdom. He’s given energy and strength. He has also provided financially when the answer could only be supplied by His very full hand. I watched Him step in again just last week, and it was amazing, jaw-dropping, and brought many happy tears!

Because I have Osteoporosis, I have been receiving injections twice a year to strengthen my bones. There was an assistance program that I’ve used in the past that helps women with the very high cost of this medication. However, now that I”m over 65 (!), and am on Medicare, I am denied that assistance. The first cost estimate I was given was to be a little more than $1100. When I learned that, I kind of set the appointment off, knowing this was out of our price range. Then the infusion center where I receive my injection called to set up my appointment and told me that my cost was $367 – much better, but still more than I was ready to pay. Knowing that I needed the injection, I went ahead and made the appointment, then I prayed and prayed. I was truly trusting that God would provide somehow, some way.

Faith To Be Sick

A simple scroll through my Facebook page brought up three faces of friends dealing with serious health issues. They are each such testimonies of God’s grace as they weather the storms that are howling around them. My mind went immediately back to my Bible reading from this morning in the book of Job. You’re probably familiar with the successive and difficult trials that touched his life in a very short period of time. After his friends charge him wrongfully, Job speaks up and then says,

I can’t even imagine going through all Job experienced, or what my friends are enduring, but I’m so touched at the solid faith they have in their God. Of course they’re asking the Lord for deliverance, but I also see that they are asking God for “faith to be sick.” In other words, they desire the faith to trust God even though they cannot understand what He is doing. They don’t know how long this will last, or even if they’ll ever be cured. They desire to stay close and trusting the Lord, never denying or cursing Him.

How a Rotisserie Chicken Became a Grace Gift

This week we encountered a simple little promo gesture on the behalf of Kroger, but it brought a sweet truth to our hearts. On our way home from Kentucky last week, we stopped at a Kroger store to pick up something at their Deli for a light supper. We found some sliced turkey in the deli and a package of Hawaiian rolls that would do nicely.

As we were finishing making our purchases at the self-checkout, a worker approached with a cart full of chicken. She said, “Would you like a free chicken? I have fried chicken or rotisserie.”

The Consequences of Trying to Control Our Circumstances

You can listen to this post here on Refresh Her Podcast.

Have you ever wished you could just run away? Ever wanted to be done with the hardships you’re facing? We read in Scripture of a woman who didn’t just want to run – she did it!

In Genesis 16 we read about Hagar, a woman who was caught in a difficult situation. There is a struggle happening because Sarai had gotten impatient with God as she waited for Him to give her and Abram a son.

What do we often do when we get tired of waiting? Improvise!

We cannot mix faith and flesh. Warren Wiersbe
