Watching God Work, End of Spring Travels, & Patriotic Decor Crafts

God is at work all around us every single day. Let me tell you a few ways I watched Him work in the past week. Last weekend ended our spring ministry trips. It took us to Williamstown, NJ where I spoke at a Ladies’ Refresh Conference for Open Bible Baptist Church. Our flight from Charlotte to Philadelphia was delayed four hours. It was going to push my arrival time very close to the beginning of the conference. We prayed and asked others to pray that I would make it to the church before the event started. I got there with about thirty minutes to spare!

The church ladies did a fantastic job with a beautiful Lemon theme that welcomed us into the foyer and coffee areas, as well as the pretty chapel where the services were held. They had amazing appetizer charcuterie cups, and yummy layered desserts on Friday night, and a delicious lunch on Saturday that ended our very special time together.

I had asked folks to pray that the Lord would make my heart a flowing spring (Psalm 107:35). He did just that. He filled my heart with excitement to share His Word, and then I watched the Word do its powerful work in ladies lives. It’s always amazing to me that after months of praying and preparing for these kind of events, just how quickly our time together passes! I met the sweetest ladies, got to hear some of their stories and burdens, pray with them and be so blessed by their fellowship and encouragement.

There were some precious young teens girls that attended the conference. They encouraged my heart by their attentiveness and response to God’s Word. Is there anything more exciting than seeing a young person hungry for the things of the Lord and eager to obey?!

I came home so encouraged and thankful for such a special weekend of meeting precious women and getting to fellowship with them.

This week I’ve tried to savor being home. Dale and I have had a few fun times doing things we enjoy. We walked through some antique stores, we had supper at a favorite spot, we have planted flowers and vegetables in our raised beds, and just enjoyed time in our home. We got to cat sit for my daughter Alli while they were on vacation, so we had the fun of a sweet black and white kitty on our laps. So fun!

With Memorial Day around the corner, as well as our country’s 250th anniversary coming in July, I’ve been pinning lots of ideas on Pinterest so I can get a few projects completed beforehand. I had some fun this week putting up a little decor since I’m hosting small group dinner here next week. I’ll give you a peek at my little projects. Maybe it will inspire you to get a little crafty with the red, white and blue!

I took one of the little cheap flags and let it sit in some hot tea to make it age a little. Then I put it in a clipboard type frame. I think it would also be pretty in a gold frame with white background.

My daughter asked me to paint this for her entry table. So easy. A kindergartener could do this!

I also made a patriotic garland for my fireplace mantle. I will probably wait and hang this for July 4th, but I hung it up just to see how it will look.

To make this, I purchased the larger fabric flags on a wooden dowel. I removed them from the stick, then stapled them over a piece of twine.

Then I used the twine to hang it on the mantle. Easy and so inexpensive! Here’s how it looks from the living area…

This has been such an incredible spring – bringing refreshment in more ways than just the beautiful weather and the lush green. The people we have met and spent time with has so enriched our lives. Our hearts are also full due to the kindness of our God in allowing us to serve Him together in our D&D Ministry, in providing each step along the way, and in giving rest and strength to do what He has called us to do. We know that we are incredibly blessed.

In two weeks we will head off to The Wilds for another summer of ministry. If you think to pray for us, we would so appreciate it. Pray for open hearts of the sponsors, for opportunities to refresh them, and wisdom to know how. Pray for strength and health, and safety as we travel to camp each week. We just want God to be glorified and His servants encouraged!

How have you seen God at work in your life this week? How can I pray for you?

He will be at work this weekend, so be watching. Perhaps we’ll see Him in the sky!
