The Secret of Contentment

You can listen to even more details on this topic on the RefreshHer podcast.

I remember when my girls were little; we would use their play phones as I taught them how to make a call if there was an emergency. We went over how they were to dial 9-1-1, then would need to give their name and address. Thank the Lord we never had to use that, but what a comfort to know that help was there, should we need it.

In a physical emergency situation, we’ve been programmed to call “9-1-1.” In a spiritual emergency we need to call up Psalm 9-1-1 – that is, Psalm 91:1. It reads, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Why is this a good passage in an emergency?

Pricey Breakfast Food Made at Home

This past weekend my girls and I had a fantastic time celebrating mine and Whitney’s birthdays. I’ll share more of the fun details on Friday’s post, but here’s a little bit of how we spent our three days and two nights together.

We traveled to Whitney’s house and we stayed there, but they had made plans for us to go out and enjoy their favorite restaurants and shops in the area. However, we ate breakfast at Whitney’s house both mornings. Alli was in charge of that meal. She really likes to try new things for that morning meal, and both of her offerings were really good, but the second day was super good!

Outfits to Transition from Summer to Fall

Packing for a trip, no matter how small is my least favorite thing to do, especially when the seasons are transitioning. “Will it be hot in the day and cool at night? Will I need a jacked? Will it be too hot for jeans? Is a dress too cool for the evening?” These are the kind of questions that I think about when choosing what to pack.

I’m going on a “girl’s trip” with my daughters this weekend, so I’ve been selecting what I’ll need for our three days and two nights together. I’m sharing the outfits today in hopes that you’ll get some inspiration for these warm/cool days of the early fall!

When a Child Doubts Their Salvation

You can also listen to this post on my Refreshher podcast

You get in bed after an exhausting day and just after you get all cozy, your front door pops into your mind and you can’t remember if you locked it or not.  What will you do?  If you’re concerned about your security, you will step out of your comfortable spot to get up and check the lock.  It’s normal; we may have all done it at one time or another.

Your child was in your home and their young heart realized they were a sinner and they needed a Savior.  While your heart beat wildly with joy, you opened your Bible and showed them the verses in Romans about their sin,God’s love, what they deserve, and how to gain eternal life.  Then, in simple, child-like faith they prayed to receive Christ’s sacrifice on their behalf so they would have a relationship with God and a home in heaven.  And you never forgot that day because it was one you’d prayed for since the day they entered your world! However, one day, in their teen years they went to a Bible preaching summer camp and heard a message about salvation that Christ offers, and about hell for those who refuse.  They have a foggy recollection of that decision they made when they were very young, but they’re unsure, and who wants to wonder if they’re ready for heaven?  They walk the aisle and make a decision to be saved.

When they get home from camp, they share their decision with you and you’re startled. What should you do?

My Favorite Pumpkin Muffins

I posted this recipe many years ago, but I’m afraid it’s gotten kind of buried under the list of recipes, and I am re-posting it today to make sure my readers know how GOOD these are!

I had never added chocolate chips to this recipe before, but my grandsons were coming for an afternoon visit, and I knew they would enjoy the addition of some chocolate. My favorite way to eat these is warm with a little butter spread over each half!
