Your Home – the Best Hospital

No one plans to be sick. It hits us unexpectedly and it’s a lonely feeling because no one else understands exactly what you’re experiencing. It can be difficult to express what you need because sometimes YOU don’t even know what you need! However, I think we can make our home the best place to get well, with a few thoughtful expressions of love and care.

While being sick with the flu this week, I was so touched by my husband’s thoughtful gestures. It was a comfort to me, and I realized that not everyone has the gift of mercy and knows what to do to help someone feel better. If you need some ideas, here are some sweet tokens of care to make your home the BEST hospital…

Suffer the Little Children To Come To Jesus

You can listen to a podcast of this post here.

One day as a little girl and her mom were lying on the bed chatting, the youngster turned to her mom and asked,

“Mom, is God even in the cracks between the bed and the wall?”
Her mom said, “God is everywhere.”
“Can I talk to Him any time? she asked.
“Sure!” her mom replied.
The little girl turned her head away from her mom and towards the wall. A few minutes later, hen she turned back to her mother and said,

Today marks my 65th birthday…yikes. I won’t say all the things you say when you hit a milestone like this. I will say that I thank the Lord for every day He has given me. The Psalmist said in chapter 90 – So teach us to number our DAYS that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. We’re not told to number our years because years are made up of individual days. A Front Door Wreath for the “In-between” Season

I know lots of you are already decked out for fall, but I’m still in denial! I’m hanging onto the warm days and summer-like temps as long as possible.

When I was sweeping off my front porch this week, I noticed that my front door wreath needed some help. The flowers were faded and pretty sad. I was headed to town anyway, so I added Hobby Lobby to my list of places to stop.

A Biblical Attitude Towards Housework

(You can listen to this post on my podcast.)

You sleepily turn off the alarm and stumble to get your morning coffee. Entering the kitchen, you are greeted by the dishes that are sitting in cold water in the sink, like sunken ships at sea. Also drumming its fingers in need of attention is the pile of laundry that is tumbling out of the bottomless pit hamper. You wonder if you’ll ever get caught up on everything that needs to be done. Housework. Isn’t it just a drudgery that we have to plug through each hour, each day and each week? From the floors to dishes to laundry, there’s always something calling for our attention. While it can be overwhelming, having a biblical attitude about it can truly change not only how we approach it, but it could also enable us to accomplish more. Does the Lord care or have anything to say about the way we work in our home? Oh, yes, and it’s so encouraging and can be a game-changer if we apply His Truth to those responsibilities.
