Fall Crafting with Children

How adorable are these little cookies? Round sugar cookie, chow mien noodles for hair, chocolate chips for eyes, licorice for smile, candy corn nose and sugar wafers for a hat! Those would sell like hot cakes at a fall festival!

When my girls were growing up, one thing I loved to do with them was crafts. Fall crafts are so much fun and we were always finding good things to glue, cut, glitter or paint.

I have a favorite picture in one of our albums of a not-so-wonderful Thanksgiving. We all passed the flu around, and on Thanksgiving Day, both the girls were taking their turn at the dreaded germ! To make the day a little more bearable, I did crafts with them – pilgrim people and Indian headbands. Their little faces are so pale and sickly in the picture, but at least they got to take their minds off their misery for a little while!

Here are a couple other ideas I’ve seen recently:
Here’s a cute idea for a leaf mobile using yarn.

This post gives the instructions for the mobile and says that the next time she’d use tacky glue instead of hot glue, which sounds like a good idea for little ones anyway.

These tin can luminaries would be adorable hanging in a tree or on a hook outside the door… Have you done a fall craft edible or not? Share your good ideas with us!

With love,

  1. What a positively lovely blog you have here! it is like sitting on your couch with a cup of coffee and exhaling in contentment! I wanted to thank you for putting my little leaf mobile on your blog but most of all…thank you for the post on attitude. So timely and I confess I am utterly guilty of this TODAY. All because I was impatient and self serving. How joyful it is when conviction comes because soon after I find the freedom of forgiveness. Thank you for glorifying Christ and blessing others with wisdom and encouragement. Your blog is a breath of fresh air.

  2. Thank you so much for your sweet words. You don't know how the Lord used you to encourage me. It is my desire to glorify my Savior, encourage women in their walk with Him, and share some practical ideas that will inspire (such as your cute craft!). May the Lord bless you today as you raise your little girls for Him.
