Transforming Marriages: Insights from D&D Ministry

This week finds us on the road again, ministering with D&D Ministry. I guess it’s no surprise that the conferences in February are marriage and family related – subject matters that our hearts/ministry are passionate about. We’re all aware that the family is under great attack. More than ever, we need the truth of God’s Word to instruct, guide, comfort and yes, even convict us so that we will follow God’s mandate for marriage and the home.

The first meeting started on Sunday and went through Tuesday evening. Dale preached five times, with one of those services being a split session. I had the blessing of teaching the women. I taught about the truth that the Gospel transforms our marriages. (I plan to share these truths on a podcast soon.) Dale and I are not the ones transforming marriages at conferences – it’s the Lord alone Who can do that. 🩷 We simply share His Word.

For the women’s session the room was set up so pretty. They invited the ladies to each bring a mug where they could choose from a variety of hot beverages to fill up their cups. Each lady also brought a sweet treat to share. It was a wonderful time of fellowship.

How we love coming into these churches where the Lord opens the door to us! To spend time with the pastor and his wife, and also fellowship with other believers in the Church is a great joy to our hearts! We see the passionate hearts of the pastors who desire their people to love and serve God and live for eternity. Our desire is to encourage them in our time together, but we are sure we receive the greatest blessing!

We usually find a cozy coffee shop during our time in new places. On a rainy morning we found Barefoot Brews. We studied, enjoyed Cherry Cordial coffee(Dale)/latte (Denise) and rejoiced in the kindness of our gracious Savior. We need these little times together to continue to work on our relationship, communicate, and make memories. Just because we’re speaking at a marriage conference doesn’t mean we have it all figured out! We must make our own marriage a daily priority.

This coming weekend we will be in Mt. Airy, Maryland for a Marriage Refresh. It’s fun that it begins on Valentine’s Day. We are excited about our time with these folk, and also our personal time together.

Can I challenge you to think today about the beauty of the Gospel? What truths of the Gospel could be shown in your marriage? Also, how can your marriage reflect the Gospel? I’ll give you one thought to spur your consideration. God wants communication with us. He gave us His Word and He invites us to come to Him in prayer. How can you implement this truth in your marriage? God cares for your marriage and desires that it be a showcase of His love for lost sinners. Enjoy Valentine’s Day while you reflect His love for you!

  1. Loved reading this Denise and loved hearing that you are going to be sharing the same truths you shared with our ladies on an upcoming podcast. I didn’t think until later that it would have been helpful to record your session so that those who missed it could have still heard the truths you shared. Thankful for your ministry.
