Monkey Treats – An After-School Snack

No matter if it happens in a public arena, a private setting or at home, school is hard work, hard play, and lots of energy spent. Those growing bodies need something delicious and nutritious at the end of the school day to re-energize them. Nothing is better than something homemade. I have a super easy and oh, so good snack idea that fits that bill! These are called, Monkey Treats, simply because of the main ingredient…

Spiritual Hoarders

This is Lesson 4 in Adorned study. You can listen to this post on Refresh Her Podcast.

If you’ve ever watched one of those television reality shows about hoarders, you will remember seeing pictures of homes overflowing with stuff.

I want you to consider whether or not you’re a hoarder. Don’t look in your house…look in your mind and your heart. I’m referencing being a hoarder of all the biblical knowledge that you have acquired over the time of your walk with God.

If you’ve been saved for more than a couple of years, consider how many
sermons you’ve heard,
how may biblical podcasts you’ve listened to,
how many revival meetings
or conferences you’ve attended and
how many Bible studies you’ve completed.

Is your heart full of wonderful truth? I can say, “Yes!” What a blessing has been given to so many of us. But what are we doing with that knowledge? Are we, like the hoarders in those reality shows, stuffing it away, piling it up higher and higher, or are we taking what we have and spreading that wealth with others?

Some Delicious Uses for Cherry Tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes are probably the easiest thing to grow in the garden. They’re so forgiving and also giving!! We have been blessed with an abundance of Cherry Tomatoes again this summer and many of our plants are volunteers! They are also one of my favorite kinds of tomatoes because they’re so sweet and flavorful! I can’t bear the thought of any of them going to waste, so after I made my favorite recipe for Cheese Ravioli with Balsamic Tomatoes, I went looking for another recipe for these delightful veggies!

I found this recipe for Cherry Tomato Pasta. It’s reminiscent of the ravioli with tomatoes, but different enough to be a keeper! You just can’t go wrong with pasta and fresh tomatoes! It has a little kick from the red pepper flakes that you must add – it really bumps up the flavor!

I dove in before I got a picture, but when you make this, you’ll know why!

The Best Day At the Apple Orchard

My girls and I have birthdays two weeks apart from one another, beginning with Alli on August 21. Two weeks later it’s my birthday, and two weeks later Whitney celebrates hers. For Alli’s celebration this week, she wanted to go to Skytop Apple Orchard in Flat rock, NC and she invited Dale and me to join her and her family. I was excited to go because I’d heard about this pretty orchard, but had never been.

The weather couldn’t have been any better! The temps were cool, and the sky clear with plenty of sunshine. We got there at 10:00. I wore a cotton “sweatshirt” and was glad for the long sleeves! It felt like a fall day, though I’m sure we still have plenty of warm days ahead. The cool temps allowed us to enjoy all the fun things they have to offer at Sky Top.

Your Modeling Career

(This is Lesson 4 in the Adorned Study) You can listen to this post here on the Refresh Her podcast.

Being only 4’9″ I never had any aspirations that I would ever be a model, but now that I’m an older woman, I’ve learned that a modeling career is indeed a part of my life! Unlike those who walk the runways, my modeling has absolutely nothing to do with physical beauty. Sound impossible? That’s what our God is all about – doing the impossible!
