Projects, Purchases and Plans

Wow.  This has been a fun week full of fun things and many blessings.  Let me share them with you!

What I did: When a new month rolls in, I love changing out my chalkboard art.  Here was what I drew for March.  This is s fun outlet for me.

Who we had over: We got to have our daughter and son-in-law here overnight on Monday.  Paul had a Lacrosse game nearby that he was reffing, so Whitney came along. I served a hearty breakfast before in the morning (more about that on Monday!).

Where I went: The game was close enough that I decided I’d drive over and spend the day with Whitney.  She rode with me to the game in Wise, VA.  We stopped at a beautiful overlook for a view of the frosty mountain tops. I never get tired of seeing mountain views! It was super cold and very windy, but it was worth it!!

We got some shopping in and also enjoyed lunch as The Inn at Wise.  It’s a lovely spot with good food! The Inn is so pretty.  It’s beautiful, old and quaint!

Trip to VA

What I bought: They have some surprising good shopping in Wise!  One place we  stopped was Ollie’s (a discount store, like Big Lots) and I was blown away at the great books they have, and the  variety and cost of rugs!!  I found this one for my front door for $7! As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the exact color combination I needed!  The front door is so important in my opinion.  It needs to give a great welcome to guests.  It’s amazing to me how much a small change like a fresh rug can do to spruce things up!

Earlier in the week I went to Belk and got a couple of great deals – an extra 50% off of the markdown price!  I got a Crown and Ivy skort for summer for $4.99!

What I’m looking forward to: We have more company headed our way this weekend and we’re excited about that!  I’m also looking forward to church and my small group this Sunday as we study Mark 4:35-41.  This is the time when Jesus was asleep in the boat and the disciples were terrified.  Jesus asked them why they were so fearful and why they had NO FAITH.  This passage has been convicting to me.  Jesus was right there with them, yet they didn’t understand He had power over the storm.  Jesus is right here with me, too, and I doubt what He is doing and sometimes wonder if I’ll make it!  He is in control of what touches my life, and I’m so grateful!!!

Have you been to Ollie’s?
Do you need to freshen up your front entryway?  What could you do this weekend to make it more welcoming?
What Truth from Scripture have you been meditating on this week?

Refresh yourself with some fun and lots of truth in church this Sunday!

  1. There was an Ollie’s here in the Panama City, Florida area but like so many other homes and businesses, Hurricane Michael destroyed it. I hope they rebuild. I like their housewares and books too.

  2. I found your site while searching for new ways to tie scarves but I think something else directed me to your page. I needed to read your post regarding faith and trusting God. I bookmarked your site and look forward to checking out your posts! I also loved the braided scarf tutorial 🙂
