The spice cabinet is one of the areas in my home that I struggle to keep neat and organized. I think it’s because I use it while I’m busy cooking and don’t have time to carefully put the jar back in its rightful spot. Dinner is cooking, after all! So every now and then, I just have to make time to clean up this space in my kitchen cabinet.
I don’t have a spice drawer, so I use small lazy Susan for the most frequently used spices. I try to put them alphabetically in order so I don’t have to go digging through them all to find the one needed in a flash. I start on the outside circle and work my way to the middle.

All my other spices and herbs are stored in the cabinet above. The jars are in a basket. I write the name of the spice with a Sharpie so I can see what it is without having to lift it out of the basket. These are also alphabetized.
I buy bulk spices at a local Amish store and refill my containers from these. It’s so much more cost-effective! These are also marked with a Sharpie and alphabetized. When I’m running low, I’ll make a note on my shopping list on my phone so I can pick it up the next time I’m at the Amish store.

It only takes a little time to tidy up this cabinet, and it sure makes cooking a lot easier when I can find my spices quickly!
Salt is a favorite seasoning for many of us. If you know Christ as your Savior, seek to be the salt this world needs. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” Matthew 5:13
What do you do to keep spices organized?

I love the idea of keeping your jars in the basket with the names written on top, so smart! And the Amish store sounds awesome for bulk spices. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Jenny. Sometimes it’s just the simple little things that make life so much easier! I hope you have an Amish store near you! The only difficult part about going there is resisting the soft baked pretzels they sell!😬

I use the lazy susan/ turn tables too. Also have one of those “ as sold on tv” kind of organizer that has pull out little drawers . I have had it for many years. What kind of plastic containers are the Amish spices in? Thanks for sharing! Hope y’all are ok

I love the drawer idea! That sounds convenient! The plastic containers are the little tubs that the Amish store sells the spices in. They seal nicely to keep things fresh.
We’re doing well! We miss you and would love to see you!
