The Favorite Thing I Ate at Christmas (and plan to repeat for New Year’s!)

The tastiest thing I made and ate at Christmas wasn’t part of the Christmas dinner, it was Christmas Eve when we have a simpler meal of soups, little sandwiches, cheese ball and cookies.

I made two soups this year – Sausage Corn Chowder and Chicken Gnocchi. I also made our traditional Party Ryes. What tasted especially good to me was the gnocchi and Party Ryes. The flavors, the textures, the deliciousness in those two menu items was unforgettable!

I’ve shared these recipes before, but I’m sharing them now because they would make a great menu for New Year’s Eve! This soup comes together so quickly. You could even purchase a rotisserie chicken and simplify it even more.

These little sandwiches are a favorite of everyone in my family. We have renamed them this year, because I don’t make them on rye bread – I use Pumpernickel. We’re calling them Party Pumpers! 😊 You make a spread with mayo, Swiss cheese, bacon and green onions, pile it on the mini slices of Pumpernickel and toast them in the oven. They come out hot, crunchy and cheesy! It makes a large baking sheet FULL.

Whether it’s just your family for New Year’s, or you’re hosting a party, these two recipes would make a memorable menu and a great way to begin 2025!

Happy New Year!
