Friday Favorites

People and projects…that’s what consumed much of my week. People are the most important, of course! I’ve had the blessing of serving my family, especially my husband this week. Read on to see how/why.

This is not a favorite thing from the week – poor Dale got hit with Flu A. He donned a mask and ran into Kroger after his doctor appointment to grab some Gatorade. While on his errand, he picked up these beauties for me as an early Valentine’s Day gift. These are my favorite color, with orange running a close second! He’s so thoughtful…even when he’s sick!

Valentine’s Day watercolor paintings were so much fun to create! These will each be made into a card and sent in the mail this week. Pooh Bear is my favorite Disney character and it was my first attempt at painting him. Drawing is all about shapes. He’s not perfect, but he’s still the sweetest, silly ol’ bear!

We got to have an overnight with our grandsons. They really got into the “Sorry!” game, and were even good sports when they got put back in Home. We had English Muffin Pizza Burgers, read books, made bird seed “cookies” (for the birds, not them!), played balloon volleyball, ate our meals upstairs at the table in the family room, and played hide and seek. I’m pretty sure I’m forgetting something, but when they went home, I was nice and tired, and also smiling from the memories made!

I made these Open-faced Tuna melts from Skinny Taste for lunch one day this week. I added the Sargento thin sliced cheddar cheese and I used my homemade Sour Dough Bread. I grilled the sandwiches on my Ninja Grill and Griddle. They were so good!

I love making my Sunday dinner table pretty. Last Sunday I invited my daughter’s family to join us after church, and decided I’d dress the table for Valentine’s Day. I found a simple heart-shaped napkin fold that was a pretty accent on my white plates. I’m going to post a step-by-step tutorial on Instagram, this weekend. If you’re interested in learning the fold, you can follow along and dress up your table this week! I’ll post the instructions in my highlights.

Lastly, I got to make an apron for Whitney this week. Someone gifted her this gorgeous tea towel, and she asked if I would make it into an apron so she could enjoy it even more. It turned out so pretty.

Isn’t that “towel” beautiful?! It made a lovely apron! And what a pretty commemoration of the Queen!

While I share my highlights with you, there were also so many hard things that I witnessed this week. Loved ones experiencing extreme loss, other people dealing with very difficult health issues, bad news for some, and heartaches all around. Friends, life is hard, but our God is good. If you’ve had more hardship than highlights, remember that God is near. He loves you and His heart of compassion is towards you.

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18

I pray you have a weekend of refreshment with the Lord!
