Seven Ways To Encourage Your Pastor’s Wife

This post isn’t about me. I simply have such a burden for pastor’s wives because I obviously know the load they carry.  I hope this will be read with the heart in which it is written – to encourage you about how you might encourage your sister in Christ.

Are you aware that most pastors and their wives experience loneliness, isolation and discouragement during their ministry lives? The role that members play can be a huge encouragement.

I shared with you on Wednesday that a dear friend and sister in Christ, Hope Carter, passed away this week.  I’ve had many people who have encouraged me over the years, and Hope would definitely be one of them!  If she could speak, she could give some great lessons on how to encourage your pastor’s wife, but since she’s gone to heaven, let me share what she did for me that meant so much and impacted my life and ministry.

  1. Care – While we came nearly twenty years ago to our church to shepherd her, she cared for me when I was hurting,

We All Need It; We Should All Give It

Every person on the planet has a need to be encouraged. We all struggle with something – maybe it’s wondering if you’re able to do a task, if you’re making a difference for Christ, if you’re progressing in your spiritual life, or if you’re smart enough to go to college.

I have parents that have always given the gift of encouragement. I was the recipient of it again just this summer. Continue reading “We All Need It; We Should All Give It”

How Am I Supposed To Get Everything Done?

The week before Easter was one of those overwhelming kind of weeks.  There was so much to do, so much to prepare for, so much to finish up – on top of all my normal daily routines.  I felt like I needed to jump out of bed and start to work in order to accomplish it all!  I wondered as perhaps you often do –

How am I supposed to get everything done and still have time in God’s Word?

That question truly drove me to my knees in prayer, because I knew there was no way that I could come up with a plan that would work.  Yes, I added one more “thing to do” by stopping at my chair to read God’s Word, then drop on my knees to talk to the Lord about my busy day/week.  Continue reading “How Am I Supposed To Get Everything Done?”

When You Just Want To Quit

We all experience times when we know we’re doing what God has called us to do, but the going gets tough…really tough, and we would just as soon quit as keep trudging along on this difficult path.  I have found myself there recently, but the Lord has brought me great encouragement through the familiar story of Moses and the Children of Israel as they desired to leave Egypt.

Today’s video will recount some of the hardships this humble servant Moses encountered and then how God encouraged him.  These same truths can encourage you and me when we face opposition on our road of obedience.

Which truth encourages you to stay on the path and not quit?

God is at work; I won’t quit! How about you?

When Your Holly’s Not So Jolly

hollyA couple days before all the twinkling lights were removed, the evergreen boughs were swept up off the floor, the empty cookie tins were cleaned of their crumbs, and the gifts were neatly put in their rightful spots, a picture was taken and linked to my blog showing my family in the middle of our Christmas festivities. It revealed genuinely Continue reading “When Your Holly’s Not So Jolly”
