New Happenings

Change isn’t always easy, but it is a part of life. As the saying goes, “Out with the old, in with the new! As of this week, some old things are passing out of my world, and some new things are entering in!

Old Stuff! I hadn’t had a yard sale in many years, but when my neighbor said she was going to sell some things, we decided this would be a good time to do the same thing. Getting rid of stuff is a favorite thing of mine! I’m serious; it’s just so freeing! When I can see that the dishes in my cupboards are easier to access because there’s more space, or when piles of old decor are gone, I feel like a weighty burden is lifted! We did a good job of selling lots of stuff! Then I had a woman message me on Facebook the next day and ask if she could have my leftovers. I told her she could have it all for a minimal price. She came and got the rest! Hallelujah! Out with that old stuff and in with new space!

Flowers – My summer flowers are beginning to fade away. I saw dead heads in my Coreopsis when I was in the yard this week, hence, out with the old. I’m sad to see summer coming to an end, but when you look just beyond my Coreopsis in the picture above, you see my Mums getting ready to bloom. That plant has been so hearty and lasted several years. So, yay! In with the new!!

Color! Our home was painted a neutral khaki color when we moved in, and I’m slowly changing it to cooler colors. This week I was able to cross our bedroom and bathroom paint job off my list! The old color was okay, but the new color is so inviting and restful! Even when it’s not sunny, the room is bright! I couldn’t be happier. The color is called, Cool Elegance. It is a light aqua and reminds me of the beach! What could be sweeter than that?! You can see the old color here.

Podcast! After much prayer and seeking God’s face, the Lord has led me to set aside the radio broadcast that I’ve been doing for the last several years and begin a podcast! I believe it will help me to be able to steward my time better, and also make access to my speaking ministry much easier. I’m still in the process of getting everything set up, but it will launch very soon. As you see in the photo above, it will be called Refresh Her. I will continue to speak refreshment into the hearts of women in biblical, practice truths you can apply to your life each day. I will let you know when it is up and running! So, out with the old way of recording and onto a new podcast!

Most of us don’t enjoy change, but as I looked at my Mum getting ready to bloom in the backdrop of my Coreopsis dying away, I thought how good the Lord is to allow old things to die off and allow Him to bring fresh, new beginnings. He orchestrates it all and provides in incredible ways. Whatever change is coming your way, remember that you can trust a sovereign God (Who never changes) with the new things He’s brought to your life.

What new things have you been into this week?

  2. Your bedroom is lovely. As soon as I saw the aqua blue I thought of the beach condos where we’ve stayed. I enjoy your blog.
God bless you and your family.

    1. You are so sweet, Christa. When God opens the door and leads the way, we can walk through it with confidence that He will do it and also get the glory. What a joy it is to be his servant! Thanks for your encouragement!

  4. I have something old going away – homeschooling my daughter – now she will go to the school my husband will teach. She’s in 2nd grade. I feel disconnected and a little lost. I don’t know what I’m going to do now… Waiting to see what God has in store. Thanks for this post.
