Oven-Fried Chicken Tenders

How tempting are fried chicken tenders, whether at a restaurant or at home? Crispy on the outside and tender white meat inside make them almost irresistible! UNLESS you find a baked version that still gives you a delicious, crispy coating and moist white meat in each bite! This is actually a Weight Watchers recipe that I found and love! The secret to this recipe is the coating – it’s not dredged in flour, but in Honey and Oat cereal! It gives it the perfect crunch and also the honey sweetness that I love to drizzle over chicken! These cook up so quickly. They’re perfect for supper or for adding to a salad or a wrap. Here’s the recipe from WW.


Cooking spray
3 Cups Honey & Oats cereal with almonds (I bought an off-brand at Aldi)
1 tsp salt, divided
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 Tbl egg whites
15 Chicken strips

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Coat baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. Sprinkle chicken with 1/4 tsp salt and pepper. Spread crushed cereal on a plate. Put egg whites in a shallow bowl.
  3. Dip chicken in egg whites, then coat in crumbs and arrange on prepared baking sheet. Coat with cooking spray.
  4. Bake 15-20 minutes or until crumbs are golden and crisp and chicken is cooked through.

This baked version is so good, I honestly would prefer it over the sometimes greasy fried variety! I served it with Zucchini “fries” (so good) and sweet potatoes for a healthy and delicious supper!

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be bland! You can enjoy things you love in a way that’s better for you, but still tastes great! I hope you’ll give the chicken (and the zucchini) recipes a try!
