It may seem a strange time to go to tie beach, but my adventure-loving husband and I have loved going to the beach in the cooler months.
- The crowds are smaller.
- The beach is often pleasant.
- Being outside is comfortable
- We need rest before a busy spring arrives.

We had the blessing of going to Hilton Head this last week. We celebrated my husband’s birthday while there, and the beach is his favorite place to be, so it was an extra special blessing to him. The Lord is so gracious. We certainly know we don’t deserve these grace gifts from our Father’s kind hand.

We love getting to worship with other believers if we’re away on a Sunday. The church we attended had sweet worship and Gospel-centered preaching. Isn’t the sanctuary beautiful?!

We stayed in Sea Pines and went to Harbor Town several times – on foot, on bikes and in the car.

We ate some delicious food, too!
- Crazy Crab – Delicious seafood!
- Nectar – Their biscuits and honey are so good!
- Downtown Deli in Bluffton- They serve sandwiches like you’ve never eaten!

It’s a good thing we stayed active! One day we rode more than nine miles on our bikes. The paths are gorgeous. Wildlife surrounds you. The quiet is heavenly.

What else did we do? In the evenings while at the house we stayed in, we played games, I did watercolor while my husband studied or watched football. We slept in. We rested. I read. We enjoyed just being together. It was such a good week. I came home with a refreshed heart and body! If there was just some way to get there without having to go through Asheville, it would be PERFECT! Oh well it made me really appreciate East Tennessee even more!
Have you traveled off-season? Where do you go to recharge? Even if you can’t get away, take time to worship this weekend. Connect with your family by making time for a game. Schedule a date night with your husband. Call a friend and meet for brunch at a new spot. These winter months can get weary, so look for ways to brighten your days! Here is a whole list of ideas for little and big get-away’s!
Refresh your heart with your own kind I’d get-away.

I am so happy to know y’all got away and rested and enjoyed a peaceful time together! It honestly blesses me to read this and know that you were refreshed. It looks like a beautiful place.

Karen, you are so sweet to rejoice with us. It’s easy to feel guilty being away for so many reasons, but the Lord knew we needed this time. I pray you all get to do the same!

It looks like the perfect get away. We have already placed a get away toGatlinburg in November. It seems like a long way off but we have several family trips scheduled before then!
