The Essential Baggy Rack: A Kitchen Must-Have

Recently, a friend of mine gave me a little gift for my kitchen. It was a plastic tool that is used to hold small plastic bags open wide so they can be filled easier.

I learned that it is called a “Baggy Rack.” I also learned that this little gadget is invaluable when I need to pour, scoop or fill lots into a baggy! Sometimes you need both hands to hold the bag, but it’s not possible because the other hand is pouring!

I’m not sure where you could find these in the store, but I did find them on Amazon. Surprised?! They are inexpensive, but so valuable.

I use it when I’m pouring my homemade chicken stock into bags, or when I’m filling them with leftovers. With summer upon us, I know I’ll be using it even more to store and freeze fruits and veggies.

Just today I diced up Jalapeno peppers to freeze. It kills me to see food go bad in my fridge. I even blanched and then froze asparagus and broccoli so I wouldn’t lose it.

This baggy rack collapses flat so it can fit into a drawer for handy use.

That drawer is in my island. It’s filled with random things – clippers and garden gloves to run out to the herb garden or rose bushes to snip off what I need, bag clips, matches, a lighter for my candles…all things I want at my fingertips. The baggy rack is fits perfectly in the randomness and usefulness!

Have you seen these? What tool could you not do without?
