Meanderings in New England

When the Lord led my husband and me to begin D and D Ministries and we began to travel, we knew it would be crucial to:

  1. Take opportunities to rest when we could
  2. Take time to occasionally travel the scenic route
  3. Pour into our own marriage.

So on this last ministry trip that lasted twelve days, we did all of the above. On the day that we traveled to King Arthur Flour Baking Company, we purchased a sandwich along with a delicious chocolate croissant and tucked it into the cooler. We decided we’d stop along the way and enjoy it for lunch a little later. I prayed that the Lord would lead us to a specail spot to do just that. Wow, did He ever guide us!

Dale decided to take an exit and see what we could find. We looked over in this cute little town of Northfield, VT and I spotted the picnic table pictured above. It was the perfect setting! When I snapped the picture and sent it to my daughters, one of them said, “It looks like a Hallmark movie!” She was right. The cute town, the red picnic table, the beautiful colored trees – it had it all! We sat there and enjoyed the delicious meal from King Aruthur, and reveled in the kindness of our great God. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above! James 1:17

It would be really easy to push hard to get to our next destination. After all, being on the road can be exhausting, but how sweet it is to stop every now and then to take time to see what’s around and enjoy it together as a couple. I’m thankful for a husband who loves to do that. We’ve made so many special memories as we’ve driven from place to place.

Another stop on this day was in Stowe, VT. It is a lovely, quaint town whose color was very near peak. The shops are pretty pricey, but it was fun to browse and enjoy the lovely autumn displays. Ben and Jerry’s plant is in this area, too, but we didn’t have enough time to tour. Perhaps another trip will allow that!

Our days were really full at The Wilds of New England. We did a Senior adult retreat on Thursday. It was so much fun. Dale taught three sessions, they had a hayride, funtime with skits, and time to fellowship with the precious folk who attended. In our times of chatting, I heard sweet testimonies of salvation, how the Lord had been faithful through their life, and also how they were currently serving the Lord in these later years!

We also served at their couples retreat and then ended with a Pastor’s fellowship the last day we were there. Lots of ministry – lots of blessings!

You may ask why we’re doing this. Well, it’s like some of those seniors that I talked with – I have prayed many times, “Lord, please use my life. I want it to count for eternity.” When you tell God that, He will keep your life full! So as we have the blessing of sharing God’s Word with couples, families, senior adults, and pastors and their wives, we are simply following the Lord’s direction in our lives. Yes, our calendar is full, but you should see our hearts!!!ā¤ļøā¤ļø
