Have you ever had a muffin or cupcake stick inside the cupcake baking cups? It can be frustrating. Even spraying the tins with cooking spray and baking them without paper doesn’t always insure a clean realease.
Y’all, where have I been when everyone else was probably already using silicone baking cups? I recently had a large container of applesauce that I knew would go bad while we were gone on our trip to New England, so I decided to freeze small portions to use in baking. I found some silicone tart pans in my cupboard and it dawned on me that the applesauce would release easily from that material. I was right! After freezing them for a few hours, I was able to pop the applesauce right out and then put it into a freezer bag to store for later use. Then I found another use…
I used them to freeze whipping cream. Again, it was so each to pop those “pucks” of frozen cream out of the container! It dawned on me then that I needed to purchase silicone muffin cups. So on our recent trip to King Aruthur Flour in Vermont, I bought a package of twelve. When I made our favorite Pumpkin Muffin recipe, I was amazed that not a crumb of muffin was left in the silicone muffin cup!
This is an amazing baking tool! If you’re not on the silicone bandwagon yet, here’s your cue! It will be so helpful for baking AND freezing!!
By the way, if you haven’t make my favorite Pumpkin recipe yet, here it is – your family and friends will be happy you baked up a batch! These were enjoyed by my family recently when I made a true fall meal – Baked Potato Soup, Ceasar Saland and Pumpkin Muffins. Yum!
