Happy Summertime!

I absolutely love summer. It contains so many special blessings from our good God!

Celebrations! Last Sunday we had a simple Father’s Day. I fixed a meal of Chicken Piccata, Red skin Potato Salad and green beans for our meal after church. I’ll share the new dessert I made next Monday. It was a mini version of a classic! See the pic below for a sneak preview. I shared last week about my dad, but I am also blessed with a husband who is a loving, godly, and fun father and Pappa!

June also brings our anniversary. Today is our 44th!! How in the world did we get here so quickly? It makes me realize how fast the years pass and reminds me to treasure each day the Lord gives us together. Recently my husband said, “No matter if the twists and turns of our lives had been different, I know the Lord would have gotten you to me somehow. You are the right one for me and the Lord knew it!” Wow. I totally agree, and I totally swooned at those loving words! We are better together, for sure!

How does a marriage last 44 years? There’s no secret! It comes by loving the Lord Jesus and allowing His Word to show us how to love and forgive one another every single day. In our own flesh, we would fail, but His Spirit living in us gives us the power to obey.

We’re going to a special restaurant tonight to celebrate. I’m sure I’ll share some pics on Instagram. I’m saving today’s calories for the splurge we will enjoy!

Daylight. Summertime also brings longer days, which I love. Today, the first day of summer, is the longest day of the year! I love waking up to the sun peeking over this hillside! I also love staying outside longer because the sun is still shining!

Fans! Not people! Cooling instruments! I have to say, I don’t love the intense heat, but I have a couple of ways to stay cool. One is this handy little fan that is powered by my phone. The first one I had was purchased at Aldi years ago. My new phone doesn’t fit the old plug in, so my sweet husband found a 4-pack on Amazon for around $10. If the heat bothers you, you seriously need to check these out!

Iced Tea – A nice glass of iced tea is the perfect Southern way to cool down. Dunkin is known for their coffee, but their iced tea is also very good! I add an unsweetened raspberry flavoring and a couple Splenda to sweeten it and it’s perfect!
