Making a Birthday the BEST Day

Birthdays aren’t just ordinary days, they are to be celebrated! Just how do you make someone’s day the BEST day for them?

Make them their favorite breakfast.
Even if the fare is simple, it’s special when it’s delivered on a tray! My favorite breakfast is either French Toast or Homemade Waffles. That warm syrup dripping down over the golden crispy bread is almost better than birthday cake! Dale has perfected his cooking skills over the years, and breakfast is his best meal! Tip – I try to keep my fridge and freezer stocked with cooked bacon, homemade waffles, fresh bread and fruits. It makes it easy for me to fix our morning meal, but when my husband wants to serve me in that way, it makes it super simple for him. It’s a win-win!

  2. Prep food for a special event or vacation
  3. Be prepared for a busy day

I didn’t want to spend lots of time cooking while we were there, so I prepped as mush as I could ahead of time and stuck it in the freezer, wrapped so it would be fresh.
Let me share what I made and how I worked ahead to simplify things.

Family Times Around the Table

You read the title correctly, we made family memories, not going around the globe, but gathered around the table. We had the blessing as a family to enjoy our third annual HamFamVacay! That simply means, Cunningham Family Vacation. We spent three nights in Sevierville, TN over the Labor Day weekend. We stayed at a Wyndham resort again. We were a little crowded in our two bedroom space, but everyone made concessions for one another, and we made it work just fine (we like each other!). Who could complain with a view like this…

Safety In the Storm

Thunderstorms can be scary. They pop up out of nowhere! They last longer than you expect. They make things dark. They’re loud. They get our attention. They teach us important lessons.

Our sweet little “grand kitty” had probably been used to hovering somewhere against a building or under a leaky overhang during storms before she was adopted into my daughter’s family last week. But life has changed for this little girl (Socks is the official name). This week when a storm pounded around us in the afternoon, my daughter went out and snatched up Socks and put her in their dry, comfy garage where she was met with a new kitty bed, a dish of food, and all the comforts of those snobby indoor cats! Now that she’s adopted, she has a home to run back to for safety and security!
