I’m linking up today with my husband’s blog to share about an exciting change that is coming in our lives – a step involving trusting God.
Walking with Christ is a life of faith and obedience. But without faith, it is impossible to please God; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6 Faith is required because we don’t see with our eyes how it’s going to happen, how it will work, or exactly what the future holds. Another time of faith has come for us.
For the past ten years, our son-in-law, Andrew has been serving alongside my husband as youth/assistant pastor at Boones Creek Bible Church. He has been faithful, zealous and growing. But believing that God has called him to preach and pastor a
church, Andrew began seeking God’s direction to move into a place where he could preach every Sunday and pastor a congregation. Over a period of time, he and my husband have prayed about this, and then the Lord directed them to begin the process of transitioning Andrew into a new position at Boones Creek Bible Church. As a result of their prayers, the congregation of our church voted recently to move Andrew into the role of Associate pastor now, and then as the lead pastor come January 7, 2024!

Are we retiring? As we have aged, my husband has said, “I’d rather step aside from the role of pastor too soon, than too late.” He didn’t want our church to be held back because he refused to let go. At the same time, the Lord has greatly burdened both of our hearts for pastors and their wives. We’ve sought for a way to encourage them as they minister. Having been there, we understand the load, the burden, the pressures and desire to build relationships and encourage as they serve where God has called them.
Then, as you’ve seen in both of our blogs, we are also burdened for marriages that are struggling. As Dale steps into the role as the associate pastor at BCBC in January, he will be freed up to step out to encourage pastors, as well as marriages. This is a very brief explanation, but you can read the details here about what we desire to do, and how people can reach us.
This is a total step of faith as we trust the Lord to guide us and show us His will for the future. We simply know He has placed a burden on our hearts, and we desire to be obedient. We are confident He will take care of the details. I look over my shoulder and marvel at the faithfulness of my God to guide us each step of our 40 years of ministry life. He never abandoned us in the past, and He will not in the future. We can trust all the “unknowns” to an omniscient God Who is already there.
Friend, if we can minister to or encourage you in your ministry life, we would love to do so. If you’re in a tough spot in your marriage, our hearts are also for you. We have no answers, but we know the One Who does, and it would be our joy to point you to His Word and His answers.
We covet your prayers for our lives, and also for the ministry at BCBC. We are excited for all God has in store for our church and for us! Again, you can check out my husband’s page with more details.

I’m so excited to see how God is going to use you both! ❤

I am thrilled for this exciting next step, and I am so happy for those who will be blessed by you and Dale pointing them to Christ! I love the picture and happy faces. The boys are growing! I am happy for Andrew and Alli as well. Praise the Lord for working in all of these details. And I’m going to have to make that cake for E before she heads off to college. Love y’all!

Karen, Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement.
Our little guys really are growing up in so many ways. It’s sweet to watch them and listen to them as they mature.
I hope E loves the cake! It will be a good send-off celebration cake!
