Ministry, Majesty and Marriage

This fall is a very busy season of ministry. It began two weekends ago when we had the blessing of attending a couple’s retreat at The Wilds. As always, I was so refreshed and encouraged by our time there.

The Lord knew I would need that weekend before heading to California where I would speak at Ironwood camp. Philippians 2:13

The ladies’ retreat began on Thursday, so Dale and I flew out on Wednesday. We arrived in Las Vegas around 11 p.m. They don’t really serve meals on flights anymore so I had gone prepared with snacks to keep us tied over. We were ready for a meal when we landed. In and Out Burger was in our path after we picked up our rental car. Yum! Who’s eaten here? It’s so good!

The retreat was a joy!! About 145 ladies attended and they were so receptive to the Word and welcoming to this Tennessee girl!

I loved my time at Ironwood. What a special place it is! It was hot and dry, as you would expect the dessert to be, but they use it all as their means to serve campers and point them to Christ. It was such a blessing to participate with them and serve our great God.

When the retreat ended on Saturday Dale and I headed out to Big Bear Lake. It was a lovely drive to a pretty place. This was just the tip of the iceberg in seeing the majesty of God’s creation on this trip!

It was there that I enjoyed my first of the season Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew from Starbucks. So good!

That cream…🩷

Sunday we headed to Vegas where we attended church, always a blessing. We left there and made our way to Kanab, Utah to spend the night so we could get up early and head to Bryce Canyon. This excursion did NOT disappoint! Here are a few favorite shots…

I won’t lie – the “moderate” hike was exhausting, but it was worth it and I did it!!

While I love being home, I am so blessed to be able to go and serve the Lord, to travel, and also get to see the spectacular things our God has created! My heart is so full of gratitude to the Lord. To serve Him is a joy beyond compare. I was reminded in my Bible reading this week that God’s work for me is greater than any work I will ever do for Him!

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭20‬ ‭

One of the best parts of this trip was traveling with Dale He absolutely amazes me. He planned our whole trip, drove us everywhere (and never got lost), and encouraged me to rest while he drove. He handled all the details of the car rental, all the shuttles, the traffic, the reservations with such ease. He served me so sweetly while I was speaking at the retreat, making it so easy for me to focus on my ministry to the ladies. He makes it easier for me to serve where the Lord has called me. Traveling with Him sure makes the trip fun! That’s what marriage should be, but I recognize it isn’t always the case. I am blessed and thankful for a husband who points me to Christ and helps me live out God’s will. What a gift he is.

There is still much Ministry ahead the month of November. I look forward to the adventure and to all that God will do! Pray that it will be done for God’s glory and with His strength alone.

  1. Thanks for sharing! I think God knew what is was doing when He matched you and Dale together. 🙂 “A match made in Heaven”. I know Pastor Dale supports you and helps you in your ministry but you are, also, a very loving and supportive wife. Happy Fall!

    1. You are so sweet; thank you Debbi. (Sorry if I misspelled that!) It’s a blessing to support one another in the ministries in which God has called us. He served me in so many thoughtful ways…even ironing my clothes so I could review my notes before the first session. ❤️ Happy Fall to you, my friend!
