Cozy, Inviting Fall Decor

Happy November! This has been a gorgeous fall season in Tennessee! The colors have been amazingly vibrant! The temps have been cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Perfection!

My kitchen chalkboard says that “All at once, summer collapses into fall,” but in reality, it happens gradually. Each day becomes a little shorter, the mornings slowly get cooler, the leaves gradually change colors, and then fall to the ground. That’s the same way I like to add fall decor to my home – gradually. Myquilin Smith taught me that decor philosophy several years ago, and I just love that method. It feels natural, because it is.

That “natural” feel also keeps me from buying all the things at Hobby Lobby. I try to infuse things from nature, like branches and twigs, and real leaves. I add layers and coziness, candles and soft lights. It invites you in. I have pinned lots of ideas to a Pinterest board that inspires the atmosphere I want my home to have. I also have a playlist on Amazon just for the autumn season that adds another layer to the coziness!

Here’s a little peek into my home and my attempts at creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere.

I like these branches from my Burning Bush so much better than plastic stems.
I do have a few “fake” pumpkins, but I surrounded them on this tray with a little piece of wood from our wood pile, wooden decorative balls, and twinkling lights.

I’ve had this adorable Boyd’s bear for years; he’s one that I kept from the huge collection I once had. The Birch branch beside him seems fitting, and was found on one of our adventures north.

The Susan Branch book he’s sitting on always fills my mind with ideas for the season. It has recipes, and great activities for fall.

Kitchen decor:

I added a few outdoor touches because we still use our porches every day. I love these “sweater” pillow covers I found at Hobby Lobby.

I added a fall cooler on a table there along with some lighting.

The back porch has lots of blankets because I LOVE sitting out there until the sun sets. It gets chilly, so warmth is needed after the sun disappears behind the hill.

The tray holds bittersweet, pine cones and a candle that’s inside the bucket.

I want my home to welcome people in, just like the fall season does to our hearts. Whether it’s the porch or the family room, I would love for my family and guests to be drawn in. These lovely autumn days are such a gift. I want my home to feel the same.

I’m not rushing the Christmas season – I want to relish the autumn comforts as long as possible. Anyone else with me?

Refresh your home with the coziness of fall.
