The Treasures of Home

You can listen to this post on Refresh Her podcast.

If you learned that the previous owners of your house had buried a valuable treasure in the backyard, would you dig until you found it? No doubt, we all would!

Some years ago we had guests visiting with us, and before they left, the wife said something like, “I love your living room. It’s so cozy and inviting. This is what I want my home to be.”

Her words surprised me. At that time, we lived in a small 3-bedroom ranch style home.  Nothing fancy.  Tiny rooms, no special features or architectural design!

Chocolate Swirl “Skinny” Banana Bread

We recently had the blessing of a couple of nights away at a lovely mountain home with dear friends. We each made simple meals for our time there. I made a banana bread to take along. I love Banana Bread because it’s the perfect addition to breakfast and also a fantastic snack!

It was a letter of betrayal and the ending of a friendship. I was shocked, hurt and reeling from the surprise of it all. We had ministered together in church. We had prayed over burdens and cared for one another’s griefs, but now she was gone, from the church and my life.

Weight Watchers Chocolate Chip Biscotti

After all the sugar cookies and sweet treats of Christmas have been devoured and their cute little tins stored away until next year, I vow I’m never eating sweets again….until tomorrow comes and the need for “a little something sweet” hits my taste buds! But I’m happy to say that there are little treats that are delicious and don’t have to kill the hope of eating better!
