In my mind, lemonade and summertime are synonymous! Hot, dry days are quenched by an icy cold glass of tart and sweet lemonade. Can’t you just feel the pucker in your mouth as you sip? Now imagine that flavor and satisfaction baked into a cookie!

Yesterday we celebrated our 38th anniversary! We had the blessing of staying at a lovely lakeside cottage not far from home for two nights.
We slept in a little and then enjoyed a slow morning with coffee and breathtaking views – even on a rainy morning.

I fixed brunch for us consisting of French Toast with my sour dough bread, blueberries Continue reading “Fun Things Friday – Anniversary Celebration”

Hilarious, picture, right?! Bear with me – I’m reminiscing!
I can still remember the day of our wedding rehearsal on June 19, 1981. We were so excited about our wedding that would following on the next evening! The rehearsal for the second best day in my life (the first being my salvation!) was a really special occasion!
This was in the era when rehearsals were a pretty big deal – you dressed up pretty nice, went to the church and learned when to come in, where to stand, when to hold hands, when the vows would be repeated and when it was time to run down the aisle together!

How thankful I am each year to get to celebrate Father’s Day. I am blessed with terrific men in my life that I’m happy to celebrate each June. My precious dad and my husband have been such godly fathers and it’s a joy to celebrate them each June!
This year our girls were both home to attend church with us, and then have dinner. We don’t need a reason to have Sunday dinner – it’s a given at our house, but I did go to a little more effort to decorate the table with a theme for Father’s Day. I found this Continue reading “Father’s Day/Sunday Dinner”

Let me share with you some fun things I’ve done during this very full week!
The biggest activity that was most time and thought consuming was Vacation Bible School. Wow! Our church blew the doors out with decorations, games, crafts, snacks and powerful Bible teaching!! Jesus loves children and tells us not to forbid them to come to Him. I loved that these children heard the Gospel over and over each night as the journeyed from the opening assembly, their class time, snacks, crafts and games. What a blessing. It’s been exhausting, but we pray there will be spiritual fruit that will bring glory to our wonderful God!
Let me show you a few pictures.
My class of 5-6 year olds on the first night…

Our group grew each night! I co-taught with another younger woman and we also had several others that were helping hands (they were all needed!) What a blessing to have a room full of children. Even though they stretched our abilities to control their energy, we are grateful for the blessing of sharing the Gospel with them!
We raced around the world to meet all the people in the human race, created in the image of God. How did we get to each continent? We flew, of course!

We learned about melanin, the coloring that gives us each a different shade of brown skin. The children saw a visual with colored cake batter, made up of the same ingredients, only with more or less coloring in the bowls.

God sees us all the same and loves each person as much as the next!
We crafted…

We ate foods from all over the world!

We were so busy each day that my sweet husband made sure to help me get some rest so I’d be ready for 6:00 when we started another 2 1/2 hours of fun (and exhaustion!). He took me to lunch one day, insisting that I was not going to cook! We went to one of our favorite local fish restaurants (Riverside), asked for a table at the window, and got to eat lunch, spend time together and enjoy this view of a family walk just outside our window!

I also managed to get a little craft done this week. I needed a wreath for summer. I found this cute little conversation bubble at Hobby Lobby and knew it would be perfect for a wreath! It was 75% off, making it under $4!

I added white fabric flowers to accent the coral door and the flowers that are growing in my yard outside.

Here’s a close-up of the “wreath.”

What other message could you say to your guests at your door but, “Hi!?” If it’s nothing else, it’s unique!!
What fun things have you been up to this week? Do you scour the 75% off aisle at Hobby Lobby for unique finds?
Refresh your weekend with something fun!
